15 Days of Marketing Day Two: Building Your Marketing Resume

  • Rating: 5 after 3 votes
Day 2

  1. Sign-up for a few marketing networks. There are lots of networks geared toward moms: Mom Central and Mom Select. Another geared toward savvy women: One2One Network. And a couple that have something for everyone: Communispace and BzzAgent. Marketing networks provide a way for their clients’ brands to reach a target audience using word of mouth marketing. They also allow for more in-depth feedback on products by fostering a community around their brands.
  2. Become an Expert for a social shopping site like Wishpot (where I’m Chief Mom Officer). Right now Wishpot is accepting wedding and baby experts. More channels including Deals, Handmade, and Fashion are coming soon.
  3. Apply for a contributor spot on a blog network like Blissfully Domestic, Type-A Mom, or Blogher (and by the way, Dads are welcome at Blogher too!)
  4. If appropriate for your niche, sign up for an account at NewsVine and write on topics to establish yourself as an expert and citizen journalist.

YOUR HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

Pick one or two of the points above and take action. Do it today. Then share with us what you did and why you’re excited about it.

Homework -
I signed up for One 2 One and I had previously established a Wishpot account. What I did do is fill out all the info and I really added to my lists. What I did to help out my network is to add products that I have used and reviewed to my wishpot account. I also listed all the sponsors that I have worked with in the past. I put them in my Fab Finds. I haven't received a wishpot mom expert badge yet.

The One 2 One network seemed like a good fit for me. I can't really tell you why other than it appealed to me. Within a few days I received a ton of information about Seal and received a widget. See my post here.

NewsVine, and Type-a-MOM - what are your thoughts on these? Do you like them? Do you find them useful?

Both am not very familiar with, but seem to be good. Type-A-Mom I have got some interesting e-mails from and might be something. As fas as NewsVine, one thing I do like about it is that I have seen the option to add something of interest or flag it, like when you digg or stubmble.....that I never noticed until I joined. This is about as fas as I have gotten.....any other thoughts? How about you Pamela?

I used may look into some more but I really try to take the roads less traveled and here is why. A few times I have seen a wide spread giveaway for example little figurines, Precious Moments. These blogs didn't have a whole lot of entries because these offers were all over the web. It was odd.

So far this is what I have gotten done.

1. I signed up with Mom Central, Mom Select, and One2One Network. And I am considering signing up with more, just because I love free stuff.
2. I have signed up for an account on WishPot, but I have no idea how to become an expert. Can anyone help me there?
3. I applied for a spot on Blissfully Domestic, because I love their site. I haven't thought about Type-A or Blogher yet.
4. I haven't had a chance to sign up with NewsVine yet, but I will.

Mel,
I have yet to become an expert on Wishpot. Normally you just email Jessica and she is suppose to check it out. Don't forget to add her as a friend on Wishpot. You can always go to my profile and find her if you like. I'm under Pamela Kramer. I think they want to give me the homemade/Indie expert badge.

I haven't signed up for the others. I don't know if I will but I'm glad to read your feedback!

I agree there are a lot of sign ups to do. I am just hoping I can keep track of all these sites and don't start getting Spam in my new email.

I signed up for one2one, wishpot, and mom central. also signed up for newsvine. and asked blissfully delish (the food channel) if I could become a contributor. i'm not sure the validation for my wishpot account was activated, following the link in my email crashed by browser once, then timed out the next time...

not sure if i'm excited about any of them. still trying to figure out what they all mean. blissfully delish looks the most promising, crossing my finger that they respond!
