Mine is in his 3rd year of college. He only wanted to go to one place so it was easy for us. :)

Good luck!

You're lucky. We vistited Ohio U today and there are at least 5 more on the list - all of them out of state except one. Hope I survive this.

Hi Anita,
Well, I was lucky, my son only applied to 2 places, one in town where we live and the other in Portland, Or, which is only two hours away from us. He's in his first year of college in Portland right now.

I honestly can't imagine visiting 5 colleges but, it will give you the chance to get a feel for what you are looking for I suppose.

Regards,
Erin

Because of cost in-state was our only choice - it's expensive enough! He could have chosen Hawaii or Alaska as they have reciprocal tuition with WA, but he didn't want to leave his friends.

I'm glad we didn't have a choice :)

Erin,
Thanks for the feedback. I don't thin k I'll make all 5. I think 2 or 3 more will be my limit. She'll have to choose or she's on her own. :) Mom is getting too old for this.

Plus it's expensive to visit them all !:)

Tell me about it. I have the info from today and the tuition is 10K more per year for out of state. I think PA is a big enough state. She should be able to find something here she likes.

Do like we did - we told him we'd pay full tuition and room & board for an instate - out of state he had to pay :)

Worked for us when he originally wanted to go with his best friend to Colorado. :)

We've been pretty lucky because most of the schools our oldest is interested in attending are close to home. There's a lot of incentive for him to go to a state school because of the Hope Scholarship and we live in the state's major metro area, so there are tons of options close to home.

Although we still need to make the trek over to Clemson in the next month or so, and there's one school in VA he's looking at.

OMG I feel your pain. We've been to 4 and I'm sure will see a few more before she makes her choice. #1 so far is U of Washington.

She just applied on line to OU and one other school tonight. We spent the entire night going over her resume, apps and essays. Glad I have other moms to share this pain with!

Not anymore ~ been there, done that.

DD 25, we traveled all over New England as she was being recruited for Lacrosse. I had to do 2-hr feedings, just like the old days. Trip to upstate NY (from CT) for one college, and when we got to the campus ~ she wouldn't even get out of the car. grrrr Ended up going to school & graduating right here in CT.

One college in Maryland the tuition was like $5,000 ~ but that was for the horse (really, they had an equestrian program). DH & I said, we have enough for the horse to go, but not you) (LOL, we really don't have a horse)

DD21 also toured all over New England. Couldn't wait to get out of CT. 1st semester Christmas break, packed it all in from the college she started out at in NH and came back to CT and is now on her 4th (and last) college. She's a Senior. 3.5 years of dorm life, and decided she likes her own room at our house. Of course, her BF is now going to school here (he transferred back here too from RI ) so, there ya go!

All in all, I would say they each applied to at least 5-7 schools.

Every day's an adventure. :)
