I know I do! My husband will say, "who are you talking about" I would love to meet some of my blogger/twitter friends in person. As a Mom blogging and twitter gives me a outlet.
Definitely this happens to me :-) Hubby still doesn't get and I will talk about my BFF (LOL) on twitter and he definitely thinks I am losing it. I love the connections that are made.

Hubbie started his own business from the ground up about 7 years ago. One of the ways he got in on all of the trade secrets was by visiting chat rooms and communities for his particular field of business. While he isn't one to really chat or comment online, he totally GETS my love of all things virtual. My sister, on the other hand, said she thinks virtual communication is "dangerous." As for me... sometimes, I really do want to go to lunch with some of the folks I tweet with or blogs I visits. I am positive we would end up being fabulous friends. But, most of the time, I just love the strategy and growth behind the whole social media movement. It is fun to see how far folks are taking it and how quickly our entire generation is getting into it. I totally support it :).

I get that a lot but then people follow up with "you are really hip to the new things on the computer..." I know that lots of people don't quite get it but it is their loss.
All the time. I espeically find it difficult communicating with friends/family members because most of them don't know I blog and are so surprised. When I see their eyes glass over, I shut up and change the subject. No one I'm close to can relate to what I'm talking about, so of them have their own businesses, but either don't have a website or just getting to their website. They cringe when I mention they should get involved in the social media explosion. Eye glass over again.
Sometimes I wish I had a business partner I could talk to and share all this stuff with :). My husband is really clueless. He just smiles. I would be a million he has never been on my blog or read anything on there. He probably doesn't know I have one! It's like I leave a secret life, only I don't want it to be secret :(.
Absolutely, but I quickly mention that starbucks and news can be seen on twitter so then it all sounds ok. I am close to winning my husband over..he mentioned starting a blog the other day!
Oh yes! All the time, my sister has heard of twitter so she doesn't give me as odd of looks as others do. I think hubs has been reading my tweets though lol because he knows what twitter is (of course from me) and has said some odd things that make me wonder LOL!
I don't even try to explain it to anyone. One day I hope to meet my bloggy friends and twitter pals but there aren't many in Ohio... at least not near me! :)
A lot of my friends also twitter or blog so they get it...but my grandmother doesn't, she thinks everyone online is out to kill you ;-) So I just say "my friend said" and she never asks where I met them or if we hang out haha
but in a way, when you are in live chat online, you ARE hanging out!!
I love my online friends and have met many and hope to continue to meet them! I have only met a couple who turned out to be a bit creepy in person, but we still chat from time to time online!
Yes!!!!!! I get this all the time. People look at me like I am crazy. Even talking about "blogging", people look at me like I am speaking in a foreign language!!!! And to say "twitter" would be even crazier!!!!!
Glad to know that I am not the only one that has friends and family that "don't get it!"
I have one friend that totally understands. My husband kind of understands and likes to listen to me talk about some of the people I've know for a while. My daughters think it is cool. But, the rest of my family probably doesn't get it. ~ Too bad! lol

My husband and sons get it but I know not all the people I'm friends with IRL do, so I tend to just say "my friend so-and-so."
Although I have run into some people I don't know who know me from my blog and that's always fun -- and sometimes embarrassing, because it's usually when I'm wearing ratty sweats, a ponytail and have pillowcase creases on my face from oversleeping. LOL!
