twitter moms: the influential moms network

I am a very open minded person and surely have my political views. I think what makes America great is the right to your beliefs and the right to express them. I don't really share my views and do not have a problem when others do. Here is what I do have a problem with, people who will Twitter and call anyone who supports the opposite party names, and they are not nice names. When calling names you are offending 50% of the population. I just recently stopped following a few people since because of my beliefs I must be a "Idiot" as this Twitter person said.

What are your thoughts about this kind of Twittering?

We must respect each other's opinions, no matter to what degree we might disagree with them. I try not to twitter about politics, because it is so extremely contraversial this year.

It's never nice to call people names. That's childish.

Name calling isn't nice.

Even though we started out the same, my husband and I have opposite political views. It really disciplines me to be respectful of the other side. It shows me the other side isn't stupid, just has very different feelings. I think people who call others names for their political views aren't trying to understand where others are coming from. Really there's no excuse to do that on Twitter or anywhere else.

I, too, have recently stopped following people on Twitter due to the same thing. I don't appreciate being called names just because I don't have the same political views.

I think that is crazy. I don't talk politics on my blogs or twitter because I have found that it is just stressful.

I'm much like Kristen in the way that I have my opinions but don't lay them out on the table for everyone. I am completely okay with someone showing their support for a candidate but what I don't like is when they make a generalization that their candidate choice is the right one for everyone. It's okay to agree to disagree. For example yard signs supporting Pres/VP no problem, but the particular signs that say Pres/VP "For All Texans" gets at me. It's like having a religion or political view just shoved in your face. Everyone has a right to an opinion and to believe in a cause, just don't assume it suits me the same. :-) Just my few cents.

It is just silly to me and this has been one of the worse campaigning years because the supporters are so mean. On Twitter I stopped following a Internet Market (if I mentioned his name many would know) who was just very mean and outright spreading things that were not true. I unsubbed from his newsletters too because he went beyond voicing opinions to name calling and back biting.

My Aunt has a co-worker that won't even speak to her since they aren't voting for the same person. I just don't understand this. My Aunt is crushed and said she wishes she hadn't stated who she was supporting but I told her she isn't a friend nor is she open minded if she won't talk to you because you have different opinions.

I am glad there are so many open minded gals on Twitter Moms, this is why I love it here!!!!!

There are moms on my list who tweet the most heart breaking opinions (to me) that go completely against my belief system BUT I would NEVER consider starting a twitter war or calling them names. I follow people from all walks of life because I enjoy seeing how other people live and think. I cannot surround myself with yes people or I'll never learn and grow. That's why I don't understand insulting someone for their opinion.

And I agree this election is destroying relationships. I want it over and done with!

I think this election is bringing some of the crazy out in people.

I agree, people should be free to voice their opinions but name calling is not necessary. That is not the way to get your point across and just a form of cyber bullying! I would definitely unfollow anyone doing that.

I know the main reason that I am voting for my particular candidate is that the other party in general doesn't agree with my choice of education for my children, and they generally support legislation that make it harder for me to educate my children in that manner.

I've been called names for that choice, and many of the other things that I believe in. I would definately unfollow anyone I felt were demeaning not only to me, but to the opposite side, as I don't need that kind of stress in my life.

I just registered to vote for the first time, yesterday. I haven't experienced anyone being mean to me on Twitter because of my political views, but I also haven't Twittered a lot about politics. Usually a political rant is so long that I take it to my blog.

I have stopped following people for other reasons, though. One person was complaining about other people being interested in a "drama," and then jumped in and got involved in it herself, and the way it was done, with the cyber foot-stomping and blatant hypocrisy, was too much for me.
