twitter moms: the influential moms network

I've just started blogging, and I'm not even sure where to start. Could any more experienced blogging moms share some advice? Thanks!

First of all, think about why your blogging. Is it to make some extra money, To share information about things you know, to share your life. Or maybe a little bit of all of the above (which I think most of us mom bloggers do) That i think can help a lot. have a plan even if its not written down kinda know what you want out of it.

What platform are you using? Self hosted wordpress, blogger, using the blog here? I personally prefer self hosted wordpress especially if your using it to try to earn some money.

I think the biggest piece of advice I ever got was Be consistent, Be myself, and know who your wanting to visit (your target audience)

Well, I know I mostly want to use it to share my life, and occasionally share information. I'm using blogger/blogspot. My target audience - I guess just other women or moms, who can relate to every day life and challenges and joys.

I feel like I sound really vague, and maybe that's part of the problem?

I think for now your fine, Just write about things that interest you. You can move forward in to monetizing it later if you decide to.

For ideas there are several Memes you can find some at http://thedailymeme.com/ this can also bring in visitors to see your answers.

I don't really know what i'm doing yet either, just taking one day at a time. I've made three blogs to try and get a little more organized, but one of them is for test purposes only. Weird, I know.

I blog but I wouldn't say I'm experienced I just find myself discussing whatever may come to my head at the moment - or vent - whichever may come first.

I would be more than happy to give you advice if you have specific questions. Generally speaking - just write. Try to be consistent and post at least 3x per week. Also visit other mommy blogs to see what is out there - be sure to comment, something meaningful. When you comment generally the blogger will comment on your blog too. Don't expect a comment back from a very popular blogger, but if you are a consistent reader and you make your presence known you may just get a visit from one of your favs.

Joining groups like this one is a great way to meet other bloggers - you can also join the mombloggerclub.com, specifically for us.

I hope this helps a little, again if you have any other questions you can contact me.

I love www.vox.com blogs because they have question of the day and a photo hunt about whatever it is for the day like awhile back it said show me your last concert ticket stub and you have to take a pic of it and post it on the blog. Which these 2 things in itself gives you things to blog about. I blog about music, books, movies I love, weight loss, and especially about my family. I love vox cause it has groups you can join as well

I've never been able to do the "Mom blog" thing. It's too broad, and I end up wanting to blog EVERYTHING and then I burn out. So I find it helpful to be narrow. (Although even then, I pressure myself to write too long/too often and burn out, but not as badly.) The most successful blog I've ever had is the one I'm currently keeping about my journey as a recovering sugar addict.

FWIW, I HATE blogger/blogspot. They have the WORST customer service. One of my blogs was just "lost." It's still viewable, but it was gone from my dashboard and no one could recover it - when they even bothered to reply to me. So I switched over to WordPress, and I LOVE it. If you haven't spent too much time getting yours going/promoting it, I'd highly recommend moving over to WordPress.

GL!
