I love the Mommybar too! It's great! I think the thing with Twitter is to find that balance between social and promotional. On the promotional side, I find the best way to use Twitter is to pique interest so people will check out your site or blog. Socially, it's just plain FUN!

Find good people to follow. If the conversation is stimulating, you're more likely to stay in the habit!
Also, download twhirl for PC / laptop tweeting (http://www.twhirl.org) and if you are a BBerry tweeter, I recommend m.slandr.net.

Twitter, like anything, can be addictive and the best way to utilize Twitter is to know the purpose you're 'on Twitter' and to manage the motive and the time. If the home, husband or children are neglected and if the a great meal isn't on the dinner table, then perhaps Twitter has become more than it was intended.

Twitter what you love, what you like, what you dislike and what you do.. but make it have an opinion or a meaning. I love the "Tweet This" button that people use but can't find it in most places!

I like twhirl for keeping up with things. You have to be able to turn it off or ignore it if you want to get things done, as it can be distracting.

I check twitter soon after I arrive at work and then periodically throughout the day. If I'm really busy at work, I might not check it at all. Or I might check it as I wait on hold, etc. I scan my tweets and move on.

I use tweetdeck so I don't have to keep my browser open all the time. I like to chatter while I am working on things in PSP or waiting for data to sort, and they aare enough programs to have open at one time. I like that tweetdeck sorts out replies to me in a different column so I don't miss them if they happen while I am doing something else.

I use twihrl on my desktop but this doesn't show what happens here at twittermoms. where do i find the mommybar ? and do i need the same name at twitter as here at twittermoms ??
