Celebrities on Twitter: Your thoughts?

  • Rating: 5 after 4 votes
What's everyone think about celebrities jumping on the Twitter bandwagon?

While Britney Spears is getting all the attention today, I've stumbled across everyone from William Shatner to Dave Matthews to my local Bay Area favorite, MC Hammer. Even Penn Jillette has tweets.

What do you think of the whole phenomenon? Do you follow any celebrity Twitterers?

P.S. My favorite Twitter semi-celebrity is Tony Hsieh -- the CEO of Zappos. He cracks me up with tweets like this one:

@zappos: My favorite thing... is the "Don't Ever Click Here" link near the bottom right - http://zeta.zappos.com

I agree, it might not even be them. Too bad there is no way to know. But...I wouldn't mind following Donald Trump, Bill Gates or Oprah. I would like to know the secrets to their wealthy success ;-)

They get enough attention. I'll find out what they did on the local news and that's enough for me!

No don't have time for celebs when running a business and being a full time mom to a toddler

There sure are a lot of FAKE celebrities on Twitter, and some of them do a really good job impersonating the real deal. It's pretty amusing, actually!

If I was a "real" famous perosn, though, and I wanted to Twitter, I doubt I'd use my real name.

I, too, wonder if it's really them. I would totally follow Oprah, Martha Stewart, and a host of other celebs if they were on Twitter. I think it'd be great.

I haven't really run into any famous people on Twitter, Myspace or Facebook. I must be behind on the times.

People are people, celebs or not, so why not? I think it's great, especially if you have the chance to twit with your fav celeb :)

What I wonder is if any celebrities are on twitter (or even on twitter moms?) under pseudonyms so they can live like regular people for a little while. It would be interesting to find out that someone you'd been following and conversing with for a while was famous, and you liked them without knowing of their fame.

Funny, because we are having a Girl's Night Out on Twitter this Tuesday. The theme is Twilight and so many of the gals that are RSVPing are asking us to try and get Stephenie Meyer. So, my guess is that many folks out there would love it if they could tweet with their favorite celebrity. I hadn't given it a lot of thought, because I would assume they are a bit busy to tweet, but I am sure they don't want to miss out on this medium either :).

I think it's cool. The fact that Twitter is such a awesome and great place to meet up that celebrities has jumped on, it just shows that Twitter's the best:)

I follow Penn Jillette. He's funny and I like hearing about stuff that goes on backstage before his shows.

I think if celebrites were tweeting that would be great but I don't think that is really them.
