Oooh, we are book lovers here too. It is a little trickier for us, because we are traveling the world on an open ended tour, so books have become even more precious ( and expensive plus hard to find in non English speaking countries).

My daughter has just gone through 6 books by the author who wrote Pippi Longstocking. None are available in US, but it was great for our month long visit in Sweden.

She also loves Harry Potter and Jaquelin Wilson ( Wilson is VERY popular with UK kids) books. We try to read books connected where we are, so she is re-reading some Han Christian Anderson stories since he is from Denmark & we are in Copenhagen at the moment.

She was reading Beowolf the other day from a book because she said that the king of Denmark was in there. Great stories from the middle ages by the same author who wrote those Magic Treehouse books and an Odyssey book series. We got a great book about vikings at a museum in Norway with real viking ships that is great for the whole family as we take in this viking culture that is also in our blood. ;)

The book that has moved me most over the past few months is AN EXACT REPLICA OF A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION by Elizabeth McCracken, the story of her struggle with giving birth to a stillborn child (in France!).

And my all-time fave series is the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

I LOVE Diana Gabaldon - did you know she is actually doing another Outlander book?!!!!

I knew she wasn't done after the last one, but I haven't heard any updates on when the next will come out. Is it actually in production now??? That would make my day!!!

For kids who like Harry Potter and the like (magic-themed), we've discovered three more kid-magician series:
- Septimus Heap
- Bartimaeus
- The Magician

I also highly recommend Dragon Rider

If you have math & sciency kids - or want to get your kids a little more stimulus in that direction, check out my 'math and science books for kids' list of books on amazon.

We always read together when my boys were little. Now they are avid readers at 24 and 19 and the fun thing is that we still share books. We do all the Harry Potter books and they have introduced me to a lot of science fiction that I never would have found on my own because I don't normally look for that kind of book. The Lovely Bones is my most favorite book I've read this year.

I also just finished the Twilight series. I have been looking for something new to read.

Oh, that mole story is hilarious!!
In the UK (which is the version we have), it's call "The Little Mole Who Knew That It Was None Of His Business" - which I think is a better title than the US version.

I am from The Netherlands and i think we have a lot different books then you guys overseas have.
My son absolutely loves a book about a little mole (is that it, a black little animal in the ground, trashing grass fields hehe) that has been pooped on the head. He goes by several animals on the farm before he finds out who did it..
And we also have books about two neighbourkids, a boy and a girl that get into all sorts of stuff, very related to the world of 3 -6 year old kids.

For myself I love Harry Potters, The chronicles of Narnia, books like Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci code. I also just started a book written by Kate Mosse, Labyrinth. Also same genre as DVinci.

Well as a school librarian I can tell you which books are my student's favorites. For 4-6 they like Artemis Foul, City of Embers, Judy Blume, Dear Dumb Diary, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dav Pilkey books, Lightning Thief, Cryptid Hunters, etc. Middle grades it would have to be Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House, Ready Freddie, Star Wars books, Clementine books, Amelia Bedelia, Stinky Cheese Man. Little guys - there's a whole gammit of great stuff. Anything from Clifford, to Rainbow Fish, Berenstein Bears, Dr. Suess, Robert Munsch, Jan Brett, it goes on and on. My fave- the 3 Silly Billies, but it's hard to just pick one...

I just recently finished 'Pillars of the Earth' and absolutely loved it. I'm sure that many busy moms will shy away from the book because of its size (over 1000 pages) but it is a must read! And believe it or not, a quick read. I couldn't put it down. I found myself reading until 2am several nights. I haven't stayed up that late since I had my first child 5 years ago.

We are a reading family, too.

I just finished reading My Sister, My Love: The Intimate Story of Skyler Rampike by Joyce Carol Oates (one of my favorite authors). I haven't started a new book yet - can't decide which one of the MANY of my "to read" list to tackle next . . .

My husband is currently reading Interred with Their Bones by Jennifer Lee Carrell.

My son (7) just started the first harry Potter book.

My daughter (3) likes to look at her Disney Princess books.

Eat, Pray, Love is AMAZING!!! I HIGHLY suggest the audio version, it's the author reading it and she has an amazing voice. I also love New Earth by Ekhart Tolle, Change your thoughts change your life by Dr. Wayne Dyer, Wicked by Gregory Maguire. For my daughter, she's 11 months old, it's her Big Book of Baby Animals.

I am reading Meg Gardiner, a terrific suspense writer I just discovered. My daughter and I are reading the first Nancy Drew book, which is prompting a lot of discussion about social etiquette and words that are no longer commonly used in conversation. My son and I are reading the same damn 4 books at bedtime that we've been reading for the last few months, all of them "look and find" books except the classic, "Everyone Poops."
