I went through this same painful discussion 23 yrs. ago when my youngest was born. My mid-wife was radically against vaccines, and I didn't know what to do. In the end, something my mother said decided it for me. She remembered when babies died of whooping cough...
My girls were vaccinated and are both grown and healthy. Before making up your mind you should read the other side. In the end, it is only one of the many decisions as a parent that will keep you up at nights, besides all the, "Mommy, I need..." ;) My heart to yours.

I did watch your youtube and it is very sad, but I think mothers should look at all the science available to them to make decisions. The link I posted is about what's happening NOW in the world of vaccines. The topic is something I have kept up on. I have many baby nieces and nephews right now.

Connie, I agree with you. Sometimes the benefit is worth the risk. Medicine isn't perfect. Only God knows the outcome of every situation. And I truely believe if you or your child is going to contract a medical problem, than you are going to no matter what you do to avoid it. Maybe these thing would have happened to this child on utube whether or not he was vaccinated. You never know because he was vaccinated. My 28 year old sister was diagnosed with MS 3 years ago and unfotrunatly she has it. Instead of trying to figure out why she has it to place blame, we are dealing with how to keep it from dibilatiting her. My heart goes out to the baby and the family, but I know thousands of kids who all have been vaccinated and have no problems. If God intended that we all lived forever there wouldn't be problems with our health. Sometimes as sad as it is, things may just happen and we have no control over them.

Yes, you are both fortunate parents to have never experienced a vaccine related injury. The question is... do you think there are too many? Do you think they are all worth while? What would you do if your child had a reaction to unnecessary but mandated vaccine? Such as, the flu shot? Now mandated in NJ? Thanks again for your thoughts.

Barbara Majeski said:Quite the opposite. Modern vaccines are actually more pure than the ones I had in the 70s - so even though my son gets more shots, he is actually exposed to far fewer antigens than I was. The overall "load" is far less now than it used to be.The question is... do you think there are too many?
Do you think they are all worth while?Yes. There is always a risk, and I take that into account. Preventing serious illness is no joke, and I think it's good to stimulate the immune system.
Also, my son is a big strapping lad, and could probably survive tough illnesses, but vaccinating him helps protect the weak - people with long-term illn...
What would you do if your child had a reaction to unnecessary but mandated vaccine? Such as, the flu shot? Now mandated in NJ? Thanks again for your thoughts.I would take him to the pediatrician, report the vaccine reaction to VAERS, and if it was serious enough, I would file a claim for compensation from the VICP, a government fund.
I hadn't heard about NJ, thanks for mentioning that. It looks like New Jersey requires the flu shot for children from 6 months to 5 years old, who attend daycare or preschool. Well, that does restrict choice, and I can see how that would upset people. Probably there are religious/moral exemptions, like there are for school-age children in quite a few states that require vaccinations to attend public schools. Certainly there are going to be exemptions for children allergic to eggs. What kind of reactions do you think children have to flu vaccines?
do you think there are too many? No I don't think there are too many problems with vaccinations. As I said before, you can't prove it was the vaccination and that these problems wouldn't have occured anyways.Do you think they are all worth while? I absolutely think they are worth while. While dr.'s are not God, they are doing their best to protect society as a whole. There will always be downfalls to positive things, but you take your chances for the greater good. Children without vaccinations who get to travel all over the world put others at risk when they return. What would you do if your child had a reaction to unnecessary but mandated vaccine? Deal with it the same way I deal with my sister developing MS and any other thing that comes my way. No matter what happens, I have to find a way to cope. I understand that this may be your way of coping and if that is what you need to do...by all means look into it. But the majority of children are not affected by these series of shots and therefore it can be bad for all.Such as, the flu shot? We don't do flu shots are rarely get the flu. We take our vitamins, antioxidants and wash our hands. SO I don't have any clue what the side affects are. Now mandated in NJ?WHo is it mandated for? and I would say that you can turn down shots if you don't agree with them.

Hi Lisa~ Thank you for keeping this dialogue open. Keep in mind I am not against vaccines however I am looking to discuss our US vaccination schedule and the mandates for certain vaccines.
Yes, NJ just mandated the flu vaccine for all children 6 months to 5 years old. That would be both my boys. I cannot opt out of that vaccine unless I claim religious exemption which can be debunked if I choose to do other vaccinations, such as polio.
Max's vaccine reaction has been report to VAERS as well as the Vaccine Injury Compensation Board. So, you are correct for now, that it is debatable if he would have had liver failure, GI disorders, Immunology distress, neurological and development delays with our with out the vaccinations. We will have take up that debate once we have our day in court. I'll keep you posted.
I chose to share my story, not to be alarmist, but to make parents aware. Vaccine related injuries are real and they are scary. Our US vaccination schedule is the most aggressive in the world. We won't even go into our incidence of SIDS and the new childhood epidemics because we could debate the correlation all day long and neither of us would be wrong or right.
You did respond that you feel that all the vaccines are necessary. Does that include the Hepatitis B vaccine as newborn?
Thanks again. I value the dialogue.
