twitter moms: the influential moms network

I just joined and have not had the opportunity to go through this entire site, so being the shortcut lover that I am, I thought I'd just shout...

Are there any TwitterMoms here that are homeschooling? Are any of you in San Diego? Are any of you using k12 curriculum? This is our second year and we are loving it... but it sure would be nice to have some people to twitter to or meet at the beach.

Hope there's another one of us out there... well, in here, anyway... :)

Well, even though you're not in San Diego, maybe we can all have some good interaction through TwitterMoms and on Twitter. It's nice to communicate with other moms who understand the challenges as well as all the fun. :-)

Where in Colorado? Maybe we can meet you all for a local field trip! We are planning to do a lot of traveling this year. We just got back from a trip up north. Here's the first part: http://twurl.nl/t8s5po I'll have a new post up tomorrow telling you all about our trip to the butterfly expo at the San Francisco Conservatory as well as opening day at the California Academy of Science museum. You can see my tweets among others at #caso08.

Hey Spooky Girl! I just drove through Central California. I wish we would have had time to stop, but we'll have to go back up. This is part one of our trip: http://twurl.nl/t8s5po. Maybe we could head up and meet for a field trip. KIT and let me know about any cool outings you might be doing.

Hi. We use the K12 curriculum, and it really works well for us. We don't do the traditional homeschooling. My kids attend PAVCS, which is the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School, from home online. My 9th grader has a very rigid schedule, with teachers at certain times and classmates. My 5th grader is only about 30% online school. I have to present the lessons to him, work with him, and then he does his bookwork. Afterwards he takes the online assessments, etc. He does have some online classes (French, etc.), but for the most part at his age the academic coach is crucial. The older they get, the more online interaction they have. It is a super online charter school. It is funded as a public school, so we don't pay for anything but pencils and paper. The kids are aech provided with laptops, printers/scanners/fax machines of their own, plus all the books, art supplies, music supplies & science experiments at no cost to us, so its the best of all possible worlds! :) Tracy
