My daughter lost another tooth yesterday. The tooth fairy made a visit last night and left her $5.00. When I was a kid I got a quarter for my teeth. What do your children get from the tooth fairy? Is $5.00 the average?
They each got $2 for their first tooth, $1 for the others. My daughter (9) lost her last tooth she got $3. Now, grandma and grandpa always gave them money for losing teeth too, but they usually just handed it to them. I think my daughter made about $15 on her first tooth because it was christmas time and company was in and everyone ponied up!
Our boys have always gotten $5.00. MUCH more than my sister and I got but...that's all the tooth fairy had the night Joshua lost his first one...then, with the 2nd tooth, we figured $1 would be good...guess what he only had a $5 bill again and I had NOTHING! LOL Oopss! SO, then Bradley and Christopher came along, Joshua knew the truth by then but when they lost their first one, yep, you guessed it, he only had a $5! I said forget it, it's just supposed to be that way! LOL
My husband blew me away when our oldest lost her first tooth... he handed me a $20 bill. He said it was the first one, so it was special. We did the same for our other daughter... after that it was a buck or two, whatever we felt like at the time.
Well my son ,who thankfully can't yet read because he is standing right here, has lost two teeth and we gave him $5 for both. We did take a lot of raised eyebrows for that though
We do $1 per tooth (except for the first one which gets a dollar and a gold dollar coin). My Inlaws also give a dollar coin per tooth. Once the tooth fairy forgot to come two nights in a row and Husband said he took care of it the third night. I was scocked when my daughter produced a $10 bill. Um yeah, we explained it was because she forgot.
Our tooth fairy is much too busy to figure out who's in which bedroom, so the teeth are left in a small glass at the breakfast table. ;-) Gives the tooth fairy a few more chances at remembering.
