What do you do when u feel down?

Eat chocolate? Scream at someone? Cry?

I don't know which would help me right now. I feel so bad because my mother needs me and I am thousands of miles away and can't do nothing about her suffering. That is only the top of the iceberg, then there's more...

What do you do when you are down?

I listen to music a lot! Especially when I'm frustrated. There's nothing like talking yourself into being in a good mood when you're not.

I exercise. Even if it is just a walk around the block...if I must take the kids and the dog...I do! Just getting my metabolism going takes the stress away!! When I am having a really bad day...I will go back to the gym at night and do another 45 mins of cardio while the hubby is doing the kid night routine. =) They all know how much happier I will be when it's done, so they let me! =) Exercise makes you happy...it releases the happy endorphines!

When i feel down i isolate myself and release my stress by writing in my diary or chatting with my online friends. They always have a way of cheering me up

I buy myself a coca cola and a candy bar and rent a chick flick from Red Box :) And if I can't do those things I just listen to music and eat junk food. I know, I have no will power! :)

Wow, all your suggestions are really great. Although i have to say I tend to do just like Miranda, buy a coke and eat lots of chocolate :) Baaad.

I have no energy whatsoever to exercise when I feel down but I'm sure it helps. Writing and singing is also great. Today I feel a little bit better so I might just go and put on some "baby baby, where did our love go..." with the Supremes. that might do the trick today. Yesterday I could've thrown out the stereo :)

I try to get moving - either mentally or physically. I will work out, do a quick session on Wii Fit, or just take the dogs out for a quick walk. Other times, I will check out and veg out in front of tv, movies, magazines - anything to get the mind drifting. I listen to a great deal of motivational tapes, on my ipod when working or out or in the car when I am driving. Sometimes I will just go for a drive to a scenic spot, listening to a tape all the way. By the time I get to the destination, I usually feel better because I've been listening to things to pick me up.

I used to have a really hard time suffering from Bipolar II Disorder, so riding the ups & downs have become a specialty! Right now it's winter time & that's always a tough time to feel happy & upbeat with staying inside all day. Try to get out & if that's hard, make being in a little more fun or spontaneous today. Turn up the heat & put everyone in swimsuits & have a beach party & picnic. Or just take time to give what you can to your kids. I find that depression may start as feeling bad for someone else, but quickly turns inward & we hang on to it & it then becomes a selfish instinct to cling to it. We don't want to feel that way, but get stuck. Then, if we can just set ourselves aside for bit & serve someone else we forget about us & how awful we feel for a little bit & the clouds can clear. My kids are often my best remedy for depression. Whenever I feel down, I know it's time to turn on some tunes & have a dance party with them.

I'm so sorry you've been struggling!! Depression is such an ugly, awful thing. Remember that your mom needs you to be happy. You feeling badly doesn't help her. If you are joyful, she'll catch that joy & feel better. Thank goodness for technology that can bring us together when we're so far apart. My prayers & thoughts are with you & your mom... ***GREAT BIG HUGS!!!***
