How old are your kids? I have three homeschooled grandchildren ages 3,5 & 7

How do you homeschool? My daughter uses various methods but a LOT of lap books.

Where do you hand your book bag? We live in NE Georgia

What do you love about Homeschooling? We love being able to take the kids on field trips and incorporate a lot of interactive activities. We also like being able to have more control over their curriculum and offering "as needed" instruction.

Any good resources you can't live without? I am a former school librarian so help my daughter find resources. I also sell Usborne Books to home school families. They are a great resource and support many curriculum. Please visit my website at www.usborneofgeorgia.com to browse the catalog and make sure you check the "Books @ Home" link for homeschool resources.

Is they cyber/charter you refer to a private organization that you pay for or from the school district in leu of attending a brick and mortar public school? I live in GA and we have a state run Cyber School. Just wondered how yours was organized?

Hello all,

I live in rural Pa and homeschool 4 kids: son 16 (10th), daughter 13 (7th), son 10 (4th), daughter 5 (pre).

We traditionally homeschooled for a few years but when my eldest got to highschool I decided to enroll him in a cyber/charter school. He did very well and I liked the organization so the following year (this year) I also enrolled the next 2 kids. Honestly... I felt a bit like a quitter putting them in a charter but I love the curriculum, we're very organized, the charter teachers have been great, and the older kids are learning to be more independent and self-motivated. It turned out to be a good choice for us.

I also run my own business from home so the organization and teacher back-up is very appreciated. I still have my littlest all to my self and won't enroll her for a few years yet. The cyber/charter has been the best of both worlds... I still get to be here and be active with their schooling, they still rely on me for most of the teaching and work, but everything we need is in one place and I always know we've "done enough" work for the day.

HI! I'm a SAHM of 4 kids. We started home schooling simply because we were very displeased with the public schools we had. Our kids are 9,8,4,2 3 boys and a baby girl.... A spoiled little girl ☺ We live outside a somewhat big city in AZ... Hoping the economy picks up and move somewhere cooler.. I love being a part of my childs development. I never realized this before but my kid needs a lot of extra one on one help with learning. Possibly dyslexia. Not sure just yet. I love that we can have a flexible schedule for extra breaks...Sometimes he needs multiple ones... Sometimes I do!☺ Overall I love this! I wouldn't change it. Its just been great. Hard as heck sometimes but great! I'm pretty set up with resources through their K12. Evrything I could possible need. Plus links!

Looking forward to talking with everyone,

Veronica

Hi everyone,

We have 4 kids: 19 (and in university), 13, 9 and 5.

When our eldest was getting ready to begin going to school, I realised that I wanted to homeschool her just as a "let's see how it goes" situation. It went pretty well. We continued with the other three in the same way and can't imagine life any other way.

We live in a small village in western British Columbia, Canada. I practise more of an unschooling approach, so the learning can be anywhere from outside to the kitchen table to the nearest library.

I love just about everything about homeschooling. The ease that comes with it. I don't worry half as much as I would if they were in school being taught by someone else. I love being able to take them to museums, art exhibits, cultural events and see them experience it all.

As for resources: I go to the library, A Lot. Online, I check out: http://www.educationworld.com/, http://www.atozteacherstuff.com/ and http://www.montessoriforeveryone.com/.

Hi Everyone,
I have two children. My oldest is 7 and my baby is 19 months.
I will be starting homeschooling this fall so I am very new to this. I purchased the Abeka program, LaClase Divertida and Nancy Larson Science.
We are in the Metro west area of MA.
I love the idea of being able to teach my son at his pace.
I would love any feedback or tips since I am so new to this!
Thanks for your time,
Mandi

Hello All!

How old are your kids? 15 & 11, we are in our 10th year of homeschooling (oldest went to public school kindergarten, youngest has never been to school)

How do you homeschool? We've used nearly every approach out there! Our needs change from year to year. Since being back to work full-time, I've purposed myself to find materials that can be used for both girls together.

Where do you hang your book bag? Detroit, Michigan

What do you love about Homeschooling? What's not to love? I love it all.

Hi everyone, I just saw this group and am excited to be part of it.
My name is Linda and I homeschool our two kids, son is 11 and in 7th grade, daughter is 9 and in 4th grade. This is our 4th year homschooling and this year we decided to use Abeka and it is working out really well for our family. We live in Washington state. I love homeschooling because my kids are so precious to me and I love being able to spend our days together, as well as being able to ensure they get the education we feel is important. I also enjoy the flexibility and freedom we have.
Resources we can't live without....hugs! Ok, seriously, it has to be our computers and internet. How did we ever survive before?
Lookng foward to 'meeting' you all here!
