twitter moms: the influential moms network

When you're going insane from the everyday activities involved in being a mom, how do you escape?
If I can actually get away, I usually grab a coffee with my sisters or roam the aisles of Target or Marshall's without having to push a cart!
If I can't get away, I know Lovely Listing always makes me laugh or I tell everyone I have to go potty and just sit in there in silence by myself for one peaceful minute.
You?

If I can actually get away, I head to the nearest book store.

If it's in my house, I get away by crawling into bed or turning on the computer.

A good book and a nice long bubble bath!

Retail therapy but my hubby works long hours so I usually take the kiddo w/ me which defeats the purpose. I love a good glass of hot tea and a magazine.

I have done the disappear into the bathroom thing to just sit there in quiet. Other than that I very rarely have any quiet time, which I need to change before I go batty :-)

I am pretty good at tuning the world around me out at times....and usually escape to reading blogs and twitter :)

I collect Blythe dolls (big-eyed Japanese dolls) and there's something terribly zen about dressing dolls up and brushing their hair. It's kind of impossible to stay in a bad mood when you're playing like a six-year-old.

If I can't get away, a glass of wine and a gossip magazine! If I can escape, I head straight for the mall - even if I don't buy anything it just makes me feel like I'm indulging in myself!

I'm a computer/online addict. (I could never break the habit, either, as my day job is Internet-based.) I have a few online games I love to play, including Kingdom of Loathing and Project Rockstar. My husband bought be Diner Dash 2 for Valentine's Day - it's also quite addictive.

I read before bed every night. I'm a huge fan of fantasy novels, particularly Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.

I like to go for a walk or go the nearest bookstore for some alone time. When I can't get away, I take the kids to the mall near my house - there is an indoor playground (always full of kids) right next to Starbucks. A coffee break for me with a built in playdate!

Me too! I'm an internet marketer by trade so my LIFE is online! My blogs are such a creative release for me.

I like to put the music on LOUD and curl up with a good book.

Or I like total silence and then read a book.

Either way, reading a book is totally relaxing to me and lets me escape into another world.

I agree with Andrea. Loud music or silence. Who knew two boys would talk so much - they never stop!
