Have you ever UN-followed someone and why?

I'm still pretty new to Twitter and I love it when someone follows me. I'm not sure of the "un-following" etiquette. Is there one? I have un-followed a few times, but I only un-followed one person because I didn't care for his comments. How about you?

Hi-I have unfollowed people that only post new links to their blog posts. It's ok to do that occasionally, but not all the time. Also, people that are too politically (in your face) right now I have unfollowed.

I haven't yet, but if I found someone offensive I would.

I have unfollowed a few that use too many curse words. Now a few I can deal with I know people have their moments but with the Twitter window open and my kids walking around I just can't have that

I sometimes unfollow people who do not follow me back. I might not be the most exciting person to follow or have great blog posts (I am trying and learning) but want to invest my time in following people who follow me. There are some people who I just love and follow regardless.

I unfollowed someone who posted every 10 seconds or so, and not about things that really related to me or my business. Oh, and another person who was strongly opinionated. Being opinionated is fine, but I'm sure everyone knows if they are quite opinionated they risk losing others who disagree with them.

I agree with both reasons not un-follow. I've un-followed for not getting a return follow after some time and I've been thinking about unfollowing chronic posters that tweet every few moments without anything interesting to say or just to push their site. I un-followed Santa. Sorry big guy!

I unfollow people for three reasons:

1) They're offensive just for the sake of being offensive. There's edgy and there's asinine, you know?

2) I've followed them for some time and they've never followed me.

3) They post 9 million times a day, respond to every single person on their twitter page (even if the response is as banal as "lol" or "good one") and I have to wade through pages of their twitters to read twitters from my friends.

For a while, I was worried about unfollowing, but I decided that it's my twitter and I don't need to keep people I'll never meet in "real life" on my twitter just because I'm worried about their feelings.

If you unfollow someone, are they aware of it? We get email notices that someone is following us but do we get them if they unfollow?

Yes. When I first joined Twitter, I wasn't really sure how I was going to use it. I wanted some people to follow so I added a lot, then realized it was just too much and unfollowed some. In general, I don't like following people who just post business links. I like to get to know people.

Yes. My tweets were being copied and re-tweeted with vulgar connotations added. I can un-follow, but not stop this.

I believe that if you block then it prevents them from any contact with you or seeing your tweets.

I've unfollowed someone a few times . Generally it is because I never see them twitter or because I take offence to something they have said.
