I follow Dooce, but she only sends out a tweet about once a week. They are always good for a laugh, but not a whole lot to follow, you know?

I am trying to make friends with different people across the US but I would love to follow people who live in my home town. I am also a mom of one so I like to follow people who have similar situations as myself.

OK please please educate me! I'm a new twittermom and a new twitter-er...and have enjoyed (albeit limited) use of twitter for social purposes and a bit for my business. I'd love to get more out of it in both regards. How do I use twitter must effectively? Thanks for anyone who is willing to be my twitter-tutor...

Corrie, check the discussions...I think there are one or two that might help you. If not, that's a great discussion question to start yourself!

Hi Corrie,
I have twitter running on my machine all the time. I glance at it to see if something interesting comes up and I also look out for direct tweets. I have found just following the twitter stream has helped me understand it's utility. I have made business contacts, found great blogs and connected with people. It would have never happened without me having the twitter stream. I use twitbin but tweetdeck is good too. I have also heard that people like twirl but it didn't do anything for me.
