twitter moms: the influential moms network

Lately, my husband and I have been taking some risks with this category and finding some real gems. Here are the ones I can remember right now that are cheap ($10-and-under) but GOOD.

Yellow Tail Shiraz
Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages
Les Jamelles Merlot
Fat Bastard Shiraz
Les Bicyclettes Merlot

If you watch the Cost Plus World Market flyers you can pick up the Castle Rock Pinot Noir for $8.99 or $9.99. Stock up on that one--it's excellent!

If you buy six bottles at Safeway, you get an extra 10 percent off on whatever wine you are buying. It can make a tasty, affordable wine even more affordable.

Thanks for this tip! I was just in CostPlus yesterday, and at least in our area (Redwood City) they had a great selection of wines on sale. That said, I did not take the time to stock up on holiday wines, I was in the mood for stocking stuffers!

Cheers,

Australian wines are a mystery to me! They're fantastic!! And they're less expensive than anything else. How does that work? Is that because they do everything backwards there? ;-)

Hi Erica,

One of the wines in my post "6 Great Winter Wines from the DesBarres Manor Inn Cellar" met your $10 or less criteria. The Fetzer Eagle Peak Merlot is a delicious wine and is nice to pair with simple fare like pizza or pasta. The other wines in our winter wines article are all under $20. But I think you'll need to come up for a visit to Nova Scotia if you want to taste the Jost Trilogy.

Hope you enjoy!

In our December 16th Twitter post we helped a mom from New Brunswick, Canada who was looking for wines around $10 CDN a bottle for her holiday entertaining. We recommended two whites and two reds: Trapiche Pinot Grigio (Chile), Las Moras Malbec Reserve (Argentina), Barefoot Cellars Shiraz (California) and the Dumisani Chenin Chardonnay (South Africa).

We regularly talk about wine and food on our twitter page:

And on our website:

Enjoy!

I too have just started venturing into the wines. So, I usually go towards the sweeter wines then the dry wines. But, I have found Hinnant Vineyards that has a variety of wines that I actually enjoy each on. They are out of North Carolina. The one I love the most and tend to get two bottles at time is the Scuppoornoug White Sweet Wine. It is so good cold. Enjoy!!!!!

You know, if you really are looking for value and you're willing to try a box, you can really get a good value. They end up being about $4-$5 per bottle and are just a good as some of their bottled counterparts that run closer to $8-$12. If you like Kendall Jackson or J. Lohr (big California style Chardonnays) I would recommend the Bota Box Chardonnay. If juicy reds are more your style, try the Black Box Merlot. Another really easy drinking red in a box is the cab/shiraz blend wine cube from Target.
