I know what I like, but I often find myself drawn to a label. Often times the label out does the actual quality of the wine! Some companies really do a good job of setting themselves apart.

I thought this was pretty original wine bottle label. I've never seen the brand in store, but I want to give it a try one day.

YES! Ok, Yes.. and No. When I'm set on a certain flavor, etc, the label doesn't influence me. But I do find myself drawn (no pun intended) to some of the really cool labels I see out there.
I actually make it a point to just go out and grab a bottle completely based off of the label. Most of the time I'm disappointed, but I'm sure I'll find a great little gem somewhere!

I have to admit I've done this, too. I love the look of the Francis Coppola labels. So chic, yet old timey. He also makes a good Claret! But it was the label that made me try it. Take a look: http://www.rossobianco.com/#wines_diamond

Sometimes yes, but it really depends on the type of wine. A cool label on a bottle of really dry wine (something I may not really like won't really change my mind) but an outstanding label on some Pinot Noir will certainly put it in my basket. Sometimes I find the best wines have the simple and quite plain labels.

they definitely do!! i know so little about wine (even though i luvvvvvvvvvvv to drink it) that the label is usually the one thing that'll make me pick up a bottle. and sometimes all i end up with is a cute label and some pretty yucky wine! ha!

Yes! I love the labels and will buy some just for that reason. Most of the time I am not crazy about the taste, but it was fun to try.

Labels catch my eye but I'll go online and read reviews before buying one that's out of my price range.

Sometimes...I will read the description first if there is one. I'm always drawn to labels with animals and beautiful art scenes. But in the end, I will go with a description that fits what I like...Unless it has a horse on it, and then i'm going to own it!

A group that is close to my heart! Yes, I usually buy wine because of a cool looking label.
For instance "Mommys time out" LOVE IT! It's 7.99 and it tastes pretty good. I also like one that has a black and white label called "Table Wine".

I am pretty pleased most of the time.

Yes, they actually do! I like to try the wines with the most unusual names and labels. Makes for great conversation pieces considering that I keep all of my bottles to decorate with.

I guess it's kind of like a book cover, if you like the author you'll buy the book no matter the label, but if you've never heard of them the cover is important. SO yes and no. If i've never heard of them then the label plays an important part.

Yes, I am drawn to an artsy, different label (on probably most things) but since I don't know what I am doing in wine, it doesn't necessarily mean I would buy it. I noticed on another thread here, that people were intrigued by the Fat Bastard name and ended up disappointed in the wine. So, one never knows, does one.... :0)

addendum:apparently, not only can you not tell a book by it's cover, but you can't tell a wine by its label/name
