Anyone really worried about the state of our economy?

I hate to admit it, but I've always just rode through life not paying attention to the economy. I leave that up to those that actually have an interest in economics! But I'm realizing its time to get in quick and understand where our nation is headed. The frightening part for me is that the whole situation is so overwhelming! I think I am going to start small, make sure my investments, savings etc are all secured, pay off as much debt as possible and try to stay positive.

The economy is horrible and unfortunately we have not heard the end of it. I just got an email from our CEO that we will be laying off 3500 people over the next 15 months. Sounds thrilling doesn't it?

The bailout plan is not the answer. Businesses must be responsible for making/losing money. We have enough debt in the nation without having to add more to it. Seriously, we as a nation, just do not have the means to continue this course. Our dollar is WEAK. The conversion in other countries does not have the value it once did. It's pathetic.

It is going to be okay Ladies. Remember the Great Depression? Dust Bowl? Potatoe Famine... Well, this should be worse... but it can't last forever. Staying Positive & Making friends forming partnerships with businesses and people that can help your community is the way we will all make it throught this ridiculous, preventable crisis we are in.

I am also scared but scared has way too much power. So I try to just say it will be okay eventually.

As Americans we are strong people and when we unite for one cause or one purpose it is a powerful show of support that we are here for each other and we can deal with it... together. I know that is the key to move us successfully through this crisis.

When next year comes and more people lose their homes, investments, life styles and insurance... it will be up to us to provide the needed resources for our neighbors in our communities. Being resourceful and helpful and aware of each others needs is the way we will survive this.

Like in the old day's... when the community would band together and have a Barn Raising Party helping one family at a time... that is the basic core of humans to help one another and when hard times come we pull together and save ourselves by helping each other. So, it will be okay ladies. Much Love to Each of You!

Cherrie - you and your family are in my prayers and I hope some new opportunities come along so you don't have to work three jobs to support your family.

As with Alyssa, I too feel it it out of my control and although I do try to be an informed citizen, I am leaving this in God's hands and praying that we will get through this soon.

Tonya - your post is uplifting and inspiring - thank you!

I feel that there is REALLY nothing I personally can do beside just be aware of MY OWN financial state. This issue comes up and if you look back in history financial states have always gone up and down.

As long as my husband and I know our FAMILY is safe, have money in the bank, make sure we don't have debt, and have money other then Social Security saved up for when we all get way to old :0) ha, That makes me feel good and know we are doing the right thing for our family.

I try not to worry-

I'm kind of terrified, I'm just starting out, I have mounds of school loan debt even though I went to a state school (i hope youre all saving for those kids, not even close to a joke!). It was hard enough getting a job, that's probably going to be the REAL problem with the economy. It took me close to 4 months to find a job. I think people were afraid of my age and I assume with people getting laid off left and right nowadays, people with experience are probably cutting themselves short and taking lower paying/lower level jobs because it's better than no job at all. Lame, you go to school for 4 years, end up with tons of debt, and it doesn't really get you too far in the ratrace in all actuality!

If I think too long or hard about it I start to freak out. So I just take a deep breath and remind myself if worse comes to worst I can always shovel horse manure for a living, I did it for years in school, and that will whip me back into shape. I have the theory of hope for the best, plan for the worst, and be happy with what you get...

I believe in the power of positive thinking, and I believe we can create with our enregy. I am just trying to focus on what I want to see happen, and because I don't have all the answers, what I want to see happen is people waking up and woeking together to spread awareness about what it takes to live in a balanced and harmonious world and to evolve to a new level as a human race!!!

The seeds I am watering are for Universal Peace and a Transformation of the Economy and of the use Earths Resouces and an evolution in the Consciousness of each person so that they might contribute something toward supporting this Vision.

I think the state of the world is not to be taken lightly, and I also think we need to get past Debilitating Fear and reach out and give and recieve support from like minded people who also imagine a Better and more Peacefule World for all our future generations!!

Blessings to All,

I worry most about the state of my own finances. To be completely honest, I do not manage money well and was never taught the importance of how to do it. Trying now, BUT it is hard to dig out of past mistakes (credit cards, student loans)...and keep from making them over again.

The job my husband and I have is 'secure' in the sense that our company won't be closing, etc BUT not secure because if anything happened to one of us, the other would be out of a job (and a home). Scary thought when you live paycheck to paycheck and have children.

The biggest lesson I've learned is this: live off of one income and not 2. There's a sense of peace that exists when you're living on one income. You don't think about what happens if one person loses their job. You know you've got it covered. The other thing I live by is this: money comes easily and frequently and I'm always provided for. Worry is such an unneccessary emotion. If you can do something about a situation, there's no need to worry; do what you have to. If you can't do anything about a given situation, why worry?
