I woke that morning as any other and as many computer-moms first went to the PC and logged onto my favorite site (a homeschooling forum - we had been homeschooling for about 2 weeks). The first message urged everyone to turn on their TVs, something that rarely happened before 4:00 in my house. I did and of course was shocked and immediately moved to tears by what I saw and heard. Obviously, school was cancelled for the day and replaced with prayer, tears, and an inward scream to know WHY?!
As stories unfolded over the days and weeks after, I was awed by such bravery, sickened by such hatred, and devastated by the loss of so many. I knew noone lost or injured on 9/11, but I felt like I knew every one of those dear souls.
So, whether you agree or not with America's response to the tragedy or our middle east policy, take time today to remember the lost and those left behind.
