Big question is: should we ask these kind of questions in the profile? Would be a GREAT addition if everybody is up for it. Do tell...
How long have you been on Twitter? Almost 1 year
How many people do you follow? try and keep it under 300
Do you read & tweet from twitter.com? another browser app? desktop app? phone? other? Twhirl or tinytwitter from my blackberry
What do you tweet about the most? (your daily life, your blog, your job, etc.) yes...all of the above.
Do your real-life friends and family have any idea what Twitter is? Only my hubby @GregBoser everyone else including our teenagers think we are crazy.
Megan, might be interesting to see it in the profile, but I'd also enjoy seeing the replies all together to see the variety of users we have. Don't think it would hurt to put more Twitter-specific info in the profile, though!
To answer my own questions...
I tested the waters of Twitter several months ago but just didn't "get" it. I decided to give it another try a few weeks ago and this time I caught on.
I'm following a LOT of people right now. I can't keep up with all of it but I spend a few minutes several times a day on it. My list is constantly changing as I find interesting people (like the Twittermoms!) or find that I no longer wish to follow someone (tweets are spammy, don't relate to me, contain profanity, etc.)
I started with an iGoogle web app, but then tried some desktop apps. I like how Tweetdeck has separate columns for @replies and direct messages, and I love the look of Spaz (and its alert sounds) but the keyboard slows up terribly sometimes, but now I use Twhirl most of the time and it's working pretty well.
My family and friends have no clue about Twitter. Heck, most of them don't even "get" my blog. I'm on a social media island in real life. Hubby, however, thinks it's pretty neat that I can ask a question and get almost-instant ideas, so he's at least Twitter-supportive. ;-)
