It's amazing how civilization has bypassed certain people - especially those who live in "The Cradle of Civilization". It's easy to see how "maintaining the quiet" might have come about originally, but to take it such great lengths is beyond belief. Drugging babies to make them sleep...well...it just seems so cruel and unnecessary.
