5 after 3 votes After having a 9-5 engineering job for 10 years, I am very-very happy to be a stay at home mom. Working from home has always been my dream.
I recently launched two on-line businesses. One is a technology/engineering business http://www.Cospheric.net and another one is the business I really enjoy, which is an on-line store of colorful products for children, all made in USA/Canada, all made (or at least designed) by moms. Check it out at http://www.ColorfulChildhoodStore.com. We have fun wall clocks, original paintings for kids, eco-friendly toys, educational games, tutus and ballet slippers, even kids aprons and lunchbags.
On-line stores involve a lot of computer time and phone time, but you can successfully run it from home, with kids. You can also do most of computer work at night, when kids are sleeping.

Hi Christine,
I am so glad you liked my site. I am my own web designer. I used a template from Volusions (that's the company I use for e-commerce), and tweeked it to look how I wanted. I am still not 100% happy with it, so it is a work in progress.
In terms of marketing, I do not think there is an easy answer. I tried Google and Yahoo and gave up, because the cost per click was too high, and it did not make financial sense. I have also tried printed coupons, and did not see good response from that either. Currently, my focus is on generating "organic", free traffic by optimizing my webstie for correct keywords, listing in free directories, word-of-mouth advertising and anything else I can come up with to spread the word about my company. I think there is a certain percent of people who visit your store who will buy your products, and the more people you get to visit your site (without paying for each click) the better.
It is a lot of work and takes time, unfortunately.
I like your blog and I think you are doing everything right! Keep it up! :)
