I have been recycling, using less water, no more pesticides on my lawn, turn off lights when not in use,
do all my shopping at one time, changed all my light bulbs out, put a KVAR unit on my home, which reduced my kilowatts by 200.
Try to cook on the grill more often. I am reusing our glass jars for storage instead of plastic.

Absolutely! I must admit that I was unsure about the entire concept when I initially first heard about becoming green. But the more I started to be exposed to it, the more I find it intriguing and a much safer way to go for my family and the environment. It doesn't mean that you have to change overnight, but making a daily effort to becoming a green family is certainly worth it. Definitely, lightbulbs and unplugging my cell phone when I'm not charging it, using recycling shopping bags, skincare...you name it!!

Now that I'm a mom of 2, I feel the responsibility of doing my part in leaving a better world not just for my kids, but grandkids etc. Doing things like unplugging electrics/appliances not being used so as not to add to phantom energy, changed light bulbs, run dishwasher/washing machine only if full load, using eco friendly cleaning products. Also, trying to make kids eco & socially aware by implementing green ideas in our life's events like birthday parties. Read about it here:

I wouldn't say always but i do find myself reading labels more. And if I'm debating between two products I usually lean toward the ones that have biodegradable packaging or less packaging. For instance, i love the Annie chun soup bowls. They're bowls are now made from cornstarch so it breaks down faster and is better for the environment

I've been using Shaklee's GET CLEAN - non-toxic, super concentrated(one bottle of Basic H2 makes 48 gallons of all-purpose cleaner), economical, cleaning products for years! They are awesome! They're concentrated so you add your own water and save on packaging in landfills. Plus they're safe for the environment and completely safe for your family! You may have seen them featured on Oprah several times and on Rachael Ray. And as of last year, they're being used in the White House and VP's Residence!! Shaklee also 100% offsets their carbon emissions - totally GREEN company!

In our city, we have free recycling service and try to recycle everything we can to help cut down on waste.
We also try to cut down on electricity, etc.

My kids have fun recycling and love being able to help me dust, clean windows, etc!

Tracey,The Get Clean home care products were introduced in 2007 but Shaklee created one of the first non-toxic cleaning products in 1960. Shaklee is a global company...and can even be bought in China now!
Unfortunately they are not sold at Target or Walmart. You can purchase the products online from a distributor..such as myself :) I don't know about the Melaleuca home care but I've had 3 friends switch from Melaleuca to Shaklee's Get Clean in the last year or so.
I have a great cost comparison sheet that compares national brands and a few other non-toxic brands to Get Clean. The savings is crazy! Here's a great, little video on Get Clean! http://embracehealth.myshaklee.com/us/en/whynow.html#/healthyhome
I would be happy to send you the cost comparison! Just let me know!
I'm new to Twitter Moms and haven't figured it all out yet :) I actually haven't been on here at all recently until today and happened to see your post.

i think this trend is positively addictive. the more you do the more you want to do. i only wish organic foods would be a little more affordable.

I agree Tali....wish organic foods were cheaper! The more I know about green, the more my awareness of toxins, and things that can harm the planet, the more I want to do too.
I'll check out your eco craft site..what a great idea!!
