I just created a group called "
Smiling Eyes" for parents of children with glasses, eye patches and all vision issues.
My son wears glasses and my daughter has Amblyopia requiring the use of eye patches. I am looking to connect with other parents and share advice, pictures of happy kids wearing glasses, and lend support.
Our kids are the victim of teasing and 'stigma' that 'girls don't wear glasses', 'boys who wear glasses are nerds' etc. Lets band together that kids with glasses and patches are first and foremost KIDS.
Do you have a child with glasses or patches? Are they teased? Do you have tips to help them to keep the glasses/patches on?
My son is brutal on his glasses and we have bought so many many pair that they know us at the optical shop by first name and "miss us" when we haven't been in there for a weekly adjustment.
