Dear Edward and Jacob:
I adore you both. But I'm spending the weekend with Jace. Sorry!

I really do promise to stop. But I was reading through the entire 14 page TM thread with Cassie and she said this -

Q: Clary has had several dreams that seemed prophetic in nature. Will this turn out to be another of her special powers or is it just a really great way to give us clues?

A: It's not a special power of *hers* — it's more someone trying to communicate something to her.

Is that Clary's mom, Jocelyn?? Communicating things to her??

Okay, Steph tipped me off on this posting from today...at her Google Groups -

Someone posted a question to the list (which seems to have vanished) asking
if, in the cookie where Clary catches Jace and Aline "passionately
embracing", they're kissing or just hugging. Since people keep asking me
this (someone asked me again on Pandemonium today), I'm going to say: THEY
ARE KISSING. Much as the concept of a passionate hug amuses me, I am not
sure it is something Jace would be all that interested in.

Well that he's entering her life...but the way Jace points back at him...hmmm...and we know Sebastian is intersted in Clary. Hmm...ohpleaseletClaryandJace...crap.

Done! What a great ending... and sad, too. Jace and Clary. What will happen with them?

My hastily thought out two cents: I do not think Jace and Clary are related. Mostly because I just don't see an author crafting a book based on incest, the biggest taboo in our society. There has to be a catch at the end that makes their feelings acceptable. I think that it will have something to do with the experiments -- the comment at Seelie Court about whose blood runs through Jace's veins, the inquisitor's remark about the mark (scar?) on Jace's shoulder and how he truly thought he was Wayland's son. And then there's the dream -- I think that Jace might be more angel than human.

Sebastian, though, is problematic. The fact that he and Clary seem to recognize each other suggests that they have known each other in the past. I think that his being Valentine's son seems unlikely, given that his mother is a resistance fighter (as I believe you called her). But isn't that what Clary's story seems to suggest? If he is the king's son who is under a curse that means that everyone he loves will die, would Valentine be the king? (And I do subscribe to the theory that if you bring something up, you have to do something with it. If a gun is on a table, someone needs to be shot with it by the end of the story. Clare has held to this theory of storytelling, so far.) There is definitely something to this tidbit, as well as the dream that Clary had. I need to think about this one a bit more (and catch up on the cookies).

Now, I'm dying to know. Which mark do you want, Sophie?

Fearless, of course. Such a cool marketing idea, too. Simple rune design and the word fearless. You wouldn't have to explain to people. I wish she would create it. Angel wings in the back, too.

I'm too diplomatic at times. And I've had a health scare (skin cancer) so fearless wouldn't be a bad thing at all. Yes, everything's alright now and I get checked every 6 months. The kind I had was caused by childhood sun exposure and fortunately caught at a very early stage. So wear sunscreen girls, melanoma is unforgiving.

So glad you finished Ashley!! Sebastian as Vs son is the popular theory. And we know a Lightwood will die but which one? And what of Simon's ability to be in the sun now after drinking Jace's blood.

I also don't think they'll end up related. But I do somehow think that Jace may be killed, saving Clary. Cassie loves mythology. She read Joseph Campbell's Power of Myth and wanted to write about a hero's journey. I'm assuming her hero is Clary.

oh i seriously hope she doesn't end the book with Jace dying and Clary being the hero.. I mean I wouldn't hate it if Clary were the hero but It just wouldn't feel right if Jace wasn't there you know? But like you said, Cassandra can go anywhere she wants with this story, its not like SM's 'everything will end with a happy ending' type story, so there will be heartbreak.

After saying that, do you remember the ARC's reviews?? they loved how the book ended and were really pleased with the book, so I'm taking that as a really good thing.. Yeah a Lockwood has to die, but hopefully after that we WILL get our happily-ever-after :D

True. I forgot about the ARC reviews. Hmm. I just hope we get the one scene where they do get together without the fear of taboo and let's face it outright ick. I'd love a happy ending for the two of them. But I'm wondering if not Jace then who? Alec? Isabelle? Max? The mom? Hmmm. Are we at 50 days yet?? I wish we had a glimpse of her fanfic writing to see how she prefers to leave her stories - open ended, happy, etc.
