Consumer Beware - BioSilk Cleanse Shampoo

  • Rating: No Rating
I wanted to warn anyone out there about this product. I had a severe allergic reaction to this shampoo. My entire body broke out in a rash.

I tore my skin up scratching at it. I went to my regular Dr. and he first thought it was scabies. So he treated me for that. After about a week, using a cream that irritated it more, I was a mess. He sent me to a Specialist that recognized it as an allergic reaction. After some questions regarding what changed, vitamins, shampoo etc, about the time this first showed up, we came to the conclusion it must be the shampoo. The first signs were around the base of my neck.

I did some research on the internet and found other people have reported an allgeric reaction after using this shampoo.

Scary when you think about it. What are they putting in our products?

I'd share the pictures, but it might gross you out.

I ended up with a steriod shot and some cream. It's getting better, at least I'm itching as bad and I can sleep through the night. But, my skin is going to take a long time to heal.

Some people are fine with it. I'm not trying to pull it off the shelf, just warn anyone that might start to develop a rash after using it. STOP!!!!

There are so many chemicals in the products we use everyday. It is so scary. Something I have found that works is the Renew lotion by Melaleuca. It is all natural compared to steriod creams and helps with skin reactions to different products.

I agree with Cara, my sis in law had a similar reaction with Ovation Shampoo. She started using the Melaleuca Envia Line and Renew Lotion and the rash cleared up. Many manufacturers put chemicals like formaldehyde to preserve their products. Formaldehyde causes dermatitis, asthma, allergies and is a known carcinogen. Look at the label on J&J Baby Shampoo and Head to Toe Baby Wash, it has Quaternium 15 in it, google it and you will be surprised what you find out!

Thanks, I will check it out.

I was reading about some of the chemicals in BioSilk, OMG, it's stuff you put in your car, pesticides farmers use on crops....NO WAY this stuff should be in a shampoo!

My scalp is so dry right now due to the meds (prednisone). I think I'm going to wait until my skin clears up a little more before introducing anything new.

I am using Baby Shampoo cause I couldn't think of anything more mild. But you are right, I don't like the ingredients in it either. And to think it's safe on our babies.

I defineately will be doing more label reading after this experience.

I am 48 and have used just about any product I've picked up off the shelf and have never had a problem with it until now. Amazing.
