Walmart needs to figure out system similar to Best Buy--numbers are handed out. To me it is fair...if one wants to camp out all day Thanksgiving--at least they know the 'reward' for being in the front of the line is guarantee that they will get what they are waiting for.
I think the responsibility has to fall on those people who acted so ridiculous they could not wait their turn to get in a store. What did they really think was going to happen?! It is obscene. The responsibiltiy needs to fall on the people who trampled the worker, not on wal-mart. I'm not saying wal-mart is the best company in the world and i know people take issue with wal-mart for driving mom & pops out of business, but this has nothing to do with that. I must honestly say, Americans have to start accepting responsibility for their own actions. This is such a blame society. it turns my stomach. Thanks for asking. i'm sure you are going to get a lot of feedback on this one!
I have to agree with rugbymom on this one. I've done black friday shopping in the years past, and seen some pretty crazy people in lines that have made me think about something like this happening. I don't think any number of people could have stopped this crowd from rushing when the doors opened. They may never identify the person responsible, but he or she knows what they've done, and they have to live with that thought forever. They took lives!
I don't think Walmart posted limits on their ad, but a local Meijer store here did. I found a good deal and went on to read that only 11 would be in store for Friday morning. The same ad shows the same item for Saturday with over 250 in store. That is what causes a mad rush in my oppinion. I chose to skip it this year, and boy am I glad! I like the idea of handing out tickets too.
i mean you dont hear about this type of stuff happening TOO often...maybe they didnt have enough resources to hire because of the recession and such. i know walmart is a huge company, but having worked in retail for many years, stores only get a certain number of hours to give out to employees a week. they do give extra hours during holiday time but, who knows, maybe some people called in sick as well. it's unfortunate because it happened at one of the walmarts near me...im really happy i dont go shopping that early, kind of scary.

I thought Christmas was about Christ not about who gets the best deal at walmart on a dvd player. When you go to a club there is a limited amount of people who can go in....we all know how BlackFriday gets....walmart should have made sure tehre was adequate help/security and the crazy ass crowd should have calmed down. That was just ridiculous. Poor family of the people who died.
