Sometimes I wonder if I would be using Twitter if I didn't have a blog. I enjoy it and do get into some fun conversations, especially during "events", I use it mainly for marketing purposes. I just reviewed a great book on Twitter called Twitter Power http://connectwithyourteens.blogspot.com/2009/03/twitter-power-book... which gives great insight into using twitter for marketing. However, sometimes I think I should stop making everything about marketing and forget I have a blog once in a while.

I'm new to Twitter however I know that people get sick of hearing my blog pitches so I try to mix it up. Put yourself in their shoes, would you be wanting to hear the same b.s over and over.
Jennifer, I do both. Some days it's primarily for promoting my blog, etc., some days primarily personal... but most days a mixture of both. I don't market too much though. I tend to help others market their interests more than my own, I think.
I just joined Twitter Moms for marketing my new business and can already see that I will be using it for fun also. I love the business and personal elements to the TwitterMoms community. I have not even started twittering yet and am almost ready for that next step. My only concern is that I spend too much time on my blackberry reading emails when I am driving and I can only imagine what will happen when I start twittering!
So far it's been mostly for fun. Yes I would like to promote something but have not found anything as of yet to sell. So far it's only been to expose our art out there. That's pretty much it for now. Looking for something else. Any ideas anybody?
Of course, I use it to promote my blog! I enjoy coming up with the tweets, but I also find it really exciting to be part of something that could potentially morph into something new at any time. I have also met a lot of like-minded people and have read a lot of blogs that I never would have found otherwise. It's been an all-round great find.
A fascinating discussion! I am pretty much brand new to Twitter (and Twitter Moms). As a blogger, you do read lots of things out there about how you should/must use Twitter. I joined to see what it was all about and I can see situations where I would use it when I can't sit down and write a long blog post but want to update my readers. My blog isn't my business, but more of a creative outlet... but everyone loves to have readers!
My initial impressions were really similar to that of Marlene's, that everyone was shouting at the top of their lungs to get attention to promote something. And unfortunately, the people who read my blog don't use Twitter, or at least not yet. I will probably stick with it to some degree, mainly because it has given me the chance to learn about other blogs that I wouldn't ordinarily come across.
I use Twitter mostly for fun but I've found it a great way to connect with other crafters and explore new business opportunities. I try to make sure I'm not too self promotional, but that's also something I try to avoid with my blog.
I am new to Twitter .... I am doing it for fun and also exploring business opportunities.
I can see why it can become an addiction for some people. It can be quite fun but the constant sales pitch by some twitters can be quite annoying. I start to pick interesting people to follow and remove twitts that is too salesy.
Overall.. I still keep twitting!
