Do you unfollow people on Twitter if they never reply or acknowledge your tweets?

I saw someone post this the other day, and it got me wondering...I'm pretty active on Twitter, and respond to anyone. I do notice that there are a few people that never seem to notice, reply, anything. I feel like it's kind f rude...and since it's Twitter, and we're not 'real' friends, I wonder why I bother...The same holds true a bit for blogs. there are some I love to read, and will continue to do so regardless of whether they visit me or not, but then others that I can take or leave...I may just be acting like a baby, but there has to be some sort of etiquette around it!

I don't unfollow unless I get a bunch direct messages from some one on how they are going to make me Rich. That is one my Pet Peeves On Twitter.

I don't unfollow people but I have taken to looking at who is choosing to follow me. At first, I would glance at the user name in my email notification. Now I go look at the profile and have blocked many.

It's a tough call and in my opinion, to each their own. I follow a lot of people who don't respond to me but I follow them because they tweet out interesting information, not just because I think I can get them to talk to me.

In terms of "Twitter etiquette" there are tons of opinions on that one. I have no doubt that if we pulled every "rule" that people have put out there are as an etiquette guideline, no one would be able to tweet without violating at least one of them. I have my own standards and I stick to them. Other than that, if I don't like something that someone is saying / doing, then I'll stop following them.

It's hard to judge, I know. You're right, lots of people tweet lots of great things, and I definitely want to keep reading...but when it's a networking tool, and it's only working one way, it another story, but not always clear which situation I'm finding myself in! I've met so many cool people through Twitter, but just get frustrated when trying to reach out to others...

oh sure...There are lots of reasons. I'm definitely speaking of the active twitter users. People who are on all day, replying, retweeting, etc. No chance of them not seeing it...Maybe they're just not that into me...and that's cool, but just wondering if people would unfollow those who don't pay attention, or just ignore them...

I am just new to twitter, I also do some questions and answered their questions. But it seems they just ignore me. I do understand what you said in her LZ. They must give us some attention/recognition when we asked them or simply answer them.

I found I just cannot follow everyone. I miss so many important posts when I follow too many. I do watch the people who @ talk to me, but try not to comment too much back for fear people will unfollow me for too many tweets! Too many tweets annoy me too!

There just has to be balance.

Plus, I have it at the top of my website and too much funny stuff/chatter would confuse visitors.

Hi,

There are a few cool sites which help you to see who is, and isn't following you, how many followers they have, etc. www.tweepular.com is the only one I've tried.

Who you do and don't follow depends on how you use Twitter, and we're definitely going to see mroe streamlining as the number of users grows.

No but I do unfollow people who send me too many tweets. :) Especially if they're 10 in a row within moments of each other EVEN if I like the person. :)

I really only un-follow or block someone if they are kinda creepy. I don't mind if people don't respond. I think because I don't know them it's just not personal
