Double Dose of H1N1 Vaccine Given to 11 Children in Error

  • Rating: No Rating
Eleven children in Ontario, Canada were given a double dose of the H1N1 vaccine in what appears to be an error. The problem may lie in the fact that they were giving adults and children shots at the same time....my children had theirs at a strictly kids school clinic. This way the doses were all the same..... here's the link to the story

Would those be the shots that aren't supposed to be given to children, but that are being given out anyway because we're at the bottom of the waiting list for the child-safe version?

It's just scary.

I'm not certain because here in my state in the US there are only child based clinics (schools) so there is no mistake. What happened there, I believe is that the clinic was for adults and kids and perhaps the nurse mistakenly picked up a lot of adult dosed vaccines?
Terrible mistake

This is terrible.

My daughter is 9 -- will be 10 in Jan.
Since she is 9, she got the 1/2 dose, & is suppose to get the 2nd 1/2 dose in 21 days. BUT -- if she was 10, she would have got the full dose from the get-go.

I find the age cutoff odd -- shouldn't this be by weight?

This process has been very trying.
I will say that our local Flu clinic was run exceptionally well, and the Health Care workers are really going beyond the call of duty !
