Facebook bans photos of breastfeeding moms

What does everyone think about this? We also find that this is just another reason for moms to be on Wee Web, where you can privately share these types of photos.

Not at all imho, if her boob is showing don't want to see her either. Modesty for them all, rich and famous OR any mom.

I am also very pro breastfeeding, but I don't want to see pictures of it.

I don't breastfeed anymore but come on....if the pic. does not show any of the nipple what is the problem? It is the most natural thing in the world. To ban pics. of it is crazy!

I breastfed my daughter in public, and would regularly get people making snide comments that I needed to "cover it up" etc, despite the fact that my shirt was covering everything (or nearly everything) that she wasn't, and if I tried to cover her with a blanket or with the nice weighted nursing shawl I had, she would grab hold of it, and pull it off. So it was either not be covered or my daughter go hungry while we were out, and then get VERY cranky.

Do I want to see pictures of it? Honestly I don't care. Do I feel that people should be able to have them on their own private Facebook pages? Uh, YEAH!

Agreed, and that's why at Wee Web, moms could post these pics if they wanted. They only share with their closest friends and family, so it removes from the equation the concern that Facebook has, which is that these pictures are too obscene for minors to view.

We had this problem here a while ago with breastfeeding art. The city made them take it down. Caused quite a stir. do you have a problem with it being in an art form?

As a mom who breastfeeds in public, I don't quite understand why one would want to post pictures of themselves breastfeeding. Yes, breastfeeding is a wonderful thing, but not everyone wants to see it or watch nor does every breastfeeding woman want to be seen. I try to be as discreet as possible when nursing in public because it is not a show. It's feeding time. Why not just post boobie pictures all over the Internet.

I believe some people become overly passionate about the things they are passionate about. They take offense to those who may not agree with them. To protest not being able to post breastfeeding pics on Facebook is rather silly if you ask me. It's like forcing your views on others. Why would you want your boobies out there for the world to see?

Maybe I'm the silly one.

So is facebook monitoring every single page now? How are they going to enforce that? If you want to share that moment on your page, what is the big deal? It is not pornography!

I actually just Tweeted about this. I nursed all three of my children, and I found ways to keep my boobs out of all of the many pictures that were taken.

There's no need to be exposed in a picture online. In public, while you are nursing... that's a different story. The kid can't wait. The picture can.

They actually weren't looking for it. Someone flagged it and brought it to their attention...

Actually, the photos aren't as private as you think. If you are a Facebook user, pay attention to your "news feed wall". You can see pictures that your friends were tagged in or that they commented on. Click on those pics, and you can see the entire album-even if the album owner isn't your friend and their profile is private. You can't comment on the pics, but you can view all of them.

I fully support breastfeeding, but don't think that's the issue here. On Facebook, your photos are private and not available all over the web. Unless it's the avatars that poeple are worried about, let whomever wants to post their breastfeeding photos on their own personal page go ahead and post them. I have received wall posts and applications on Facebook that are far more pornographic and obscene than a picture of a woman nursing a baby.
