Interesting article about raising "high quality" children. http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/01/04/mideast/ivy.php Any thoughts on this?

To me, this is so sad. Did they ever hear the saying "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy?" What I ask of my children is that they make their best effort every day which means that I check all their work, walk through what needs to be corrected and ask them to make their corrections before turning it in to their teachers. However, I also have great faith that my kids already have within them what God intended as their innate gifts to share with the world. I just can't imagine what the overwhelming pressure and stress is doing to these kids psychologically. What if a kid simply wants to drive a dump truck? Will we begin seeing these kids "going postal" over simple human failures that would normally be part of the learning process because they have never been allowed to fail? It really gets to me when parents are overbearing simply so that they can fulfill what they may view as lacking in their own lives.
