Has anyone had a Tummy Tuck??

  • Rating: 5 after 2 votes
I realize that this is an extremely personal question but I'm putting it out there regardless because, well, I just might need one. I'm on a weight loss mission and if some of you have seen my blog I'm all stomach. As I'm losing weight, it is going down, but in more of a "deflatable manner" to the point where once I get to my target weight...I just might have a fanny pack in the front! All I'll need is a zipper and voila...built in hand bag!

I only personally know one person who's had one and I just want to know or hear more stories, good, bad or indifferent...or even if anyone's used an alternative method like the Titan Laser?

As much as I would like to "embrace" my postpartum body...I just can't seem to get over that skin that might be hanging in the end. I'm blessed with a husband that doesn't care, but I do.

Your experiences or the experiences of friends or family you know would be appreciated!

I have never had a tummy tuck but I would love to get one. By all means, if you want it, can afford it, do it. I believe there is nothing wrong with getting it, and everyone I know that got one is very happy with it. Just make sure to pick someone qualified, of course. :)

Because of a bothched Hysterectomy I was left with infection, hole and then skin flap...I was not overweight and my tummy was just fine....Anyway to fix this new thingy I did have lypo done, and was very satisfied...My sister had a total abdomnoplasty after her 3rd baby with complications and because she's a nurse and had a very good rate...She was very pleased and looks great....There is much to be said about self esteem and I would definately go for it for you...You have succeeded in your goal..reep the benifits...Please DO find a very good DR.....GO for it!!!...These kind of things should always be done for yourself and noone else...consider it a reward for all of your hard work!!!
Good Luck and Congradulations!!!!

I would love to get a tummy tuck and I WILL ONE DAY. I had two c-sections and I lost all my baby weight but the only thing I can't lose is the kangoo pouch; I can never wear a bikini again because of it.
I agree any cosmetic surgery should be for you not for society or for a man. You have to love yourself first and if it's possible get a tune up when you can.

Once I lose some weight, I would love to have a tummy tuck - just for my own self-confidence. I had a nose job at 21 and it was one of the best things I ever did. If I can make a part of my body look better and then feel better about myself - I'm all for it.

well I am in the same boat. I just had triplets, before I had twins and then I had a single so guess what...I am in need of help. My husband promised a tuck but I want to get to a weight that I am happy with. I have seen one, my girlfriend had one and it is one heck of a cut but I am still in. Seems like it took at least a week to get back on her feet. I am waiting for my diet to kick in and for my kids to get a bit older as I will need help. Good luck and keep me updated

I LOVE that you are doing your research. I had a tummy tuck 5 years ago. I had an excellent doctor -- could even still wear a bikini if I wanted. I was not terribly overweight -- about 10 - 15 pounds, had had 2 kids, one was a c-section, by all accounts I was the perfect candidate. Here's the thing. I have to work harder at staying trim now than I ever did. I'm back up to my original weight....what I couldn't know back then was that I was going to have typcial hormonal issues and as my body tries to compensate. . .well, I altered it with surgery and it doesn't look as natural now. Your fat doesn't come back, so if you gain weight again for ANY reason, including health issues, the fat cells in other parts of your body just expand.

I applaud anyone who makes a conscious choice to feel better about their body including with the use of surgery and I don't think I could make a blanket statement like get one or don't, but I can say I wish I never had.

Hi Kelly! I hope this stays between us TwitterMoms but not on twitter:-) I had a tummy tuck almost a year ago in Dallas, where I live. I am fortunate to have friends who know plastic surgeons in Dallas (town of high-maintenance women) very well. A few years ago, I had breast reconstruction by the most fabulous "body" surgeon (some specialize in face; the best are specialized). No scars after a few months; lovely personality & temperament: kind staff. All of these things DO count. There is no reason to get plastic surgery if you aren't positively certain that the surgeon is spectacular. My surgeon: http://www.drwilliamcarpenter.com/

If a doctor discusses lasar surgery, run as fast as you can. It is 100% not done by the board certified plastic surgeons who count. Truly, the knife and lipo (which go together in body surgery) are still the gold standard. And they work! I had a friend who went to another doctor for breast implants and my doctor had to do three surgical "revisions" because the implants were floating, leaking, you name it. You can look up my doctor to get an idea of "the best."

My surgery went really well. Email me at ellen@elwellinc.com and I'll tell you more.

I certainly appreciate your information and your honesty Teri...I'm seriously looking at all aspects and after affects of this surgery. I'm 40 and it definitely puts a different spin on not only losing weight but if I do gain, where it goes!

Long ago I would've told you no way and no how. Things have changed now that I have four children and while I can still say I haven't had a tummy tuck I'd probably get one if given the chance and had the money. I just couldn't seem to get rid of the baby weight after baby #4 and now I'm disgusted by it. I had one friend that had it and loved it and she looked great, one day I will I'm sure but not for at least a few more years as they just cost too much.

I do admit the cost is outrageous but we're lucky that 60% of it will be covered by combining my husbands and my health spending account through our work. Without that, I'm sure it would also take a backseat for a few years!
