twitter moms: the influential moms network

Have a child with a food allergy? See this article from Joel Stein for the LA Times who thinks they are a "Yuppy Invention?"

  • Rating: No Rating
I'm the mother to two highly food allergic young boys. So, as you can imagine I'm enraged about Joel Steins article that Peanut Allergies are a YUPPY Invention!

Clearly this guy is a) a moron b) not related to anyone with a food allergy c) trying to get some readership.

In addition to being totally off base, this article is completely offensive. Once I calm down, stop spewing expletives and put my boys to bed, I'll be blogging about this moron this evening.

If you have food allergic children, please join me in a sound off.

I read the article, and I think it's just to garner publicity or create controversy. At least I hope no one actually believes those things...

In my opinion, giving it more publicity just adds fuel to the fire, and more hits to his site. My choice is to not even respond to such ludicrous nonsense. But that's just me. (If you do blog about it, will you share the link here?) :-)

I've come to the same conclusion myself, that I can't write back to fuel his fire. I've sat here and stewed about it. I just did a twitter search though and found lots of people that seem to agree with him, that its all somehow just hysteria and unfounded. With two boys that are both anaphalactic to nut protein, I wish it were that easy that I could just *wish* it away.

I guess I'll just have to ignore him... and get over my rage that people can be so massively inapropriate!

It's hard to just sit back. If you want to find some kindred spirits, this link is good: http://www.lensaunders.com/peanuts/forum84/comments.php?DiscussionI.... (That whole forum is an excellent support system for peanut/nut allergies!)
