Just wanted to know what you feel about using online nanny services. It has become a popular way to get a nanny. How safe do you feel doing it this way?

The main thing you need to know about the larger membership type sites like GreatAupair is that we are a childcare 'Internet' service. This means they provide the service that allows you to make your own search, the tools to do it efficiently, and the customer support to help you through out the process.
GreatAupair has helped thousands and thousands of families through out the world. If you take the time to learn how the site works, contact the support department for help when needed, and be sure to order background screening on any applicant you are hiring. Most of these sites are very safe.
I have hired two nannies through these services myself. (one on Eaupair and one on GreatAupair) My boyfriend JUST hired someone and I am looking for a new nanny for September :)

I joined Care.com during their free mother's day weekend - and they are running something similar for Father's Day (there's a coupon code at the top of my latest blog post if you need it: www.twoferthepriceofone.blogspot.com )
I liked that Care did background checks.
I also liked that I placed a listing for summer help and received LOTS of very qualified people.
I have yet to follow through because my neighbor is around this summer and that is most convenient. But I may use it for an occasional sitter.
Also - someone on Twitter said their cousin was looking for a job on Care.com and loved the results she's had from that end.

Just to let you know and thanks for your information. I am actually looking to get into the nanny agency thing, been a nanny myself many years. I was just looking for feedback on how people are looking for childcare. I am also going to be doing workshops for nannies in the Starkey nanny manager program. Many of the nanny schools are very expensive. Any thoughts you all might have?
