The same thing here - about the gloves today, too!! I think after a few years of togetherness there's a blind faith when it comes to finding something. They've replaced the "where is it or where did I put it" spot in their brain with something else.
I haven't quite figured out what else could be taking up that valuable gray real estate though!!
OH, the similarities between husbands and small children... The hubby is always opening the fridge or cabinet and asking me where something is. If it were a snake it would have bit you!
Ready for some psycho-babble?
The things we ask them to find are not as much of a priority to them as they are to us.
i.e. Have him ask you "Where's the remote?" (assuming he loves TV) he will tear the house apart to find it, or he will simply turn it on manually, and sit down. Either way the TV is on. That was the priority to him in the first place.

My husband said if I die before him he's screwed. He's become so dependent on me finding things, scheduling things, taking care of the kids he wouldn't be able to do it if I were gone. It's scary! I am trying to delegate more & not do everything for everyone. He is getting better too. Now he can at least find his wallet. He still asks me where things are even though they are right there in front of him. Unfortunately, he's passed this gene to our children.
Ok, I am LMAO because this is so true and funny. We call it a "boy look" in my house. Hubby will look for something for 20 minutes, announce he can't find it and then I will go to the same table, closet, drawer whatever and find it in 2.5 seconds.
I once heard that there is an actual evolutionary, anthropological reason as to why guys "boy look" and why women are *meant* to be horrible at giving directions and driving - - it goes back to hunting and gathering days. Men needed to navigate and see far in order to go hunting for food for days at a time and then return to the cave, while women's vision was more adept to fine details and things that are close by so that we could watch the children, keep them close and sew together the sheepskins LOL
It sorta makes sense, I like it as an explanation...
