I met mine through a blind date my brother Harry arranged. He had been saying for
awhile to me...that's the guy for you.
We went roller skating and my husband couldn't skate!
I met mine via the Internet, he popped up in an IM through Yahoo, where he found me via Yahoo singles. 6 weeks later we married, we've now been married 6 years!
I met mine at a powwow - he was running a powwow in Wichita KS and I went there with some friends. I had just moved to Wichita for a job, and saw him around the community. But we both dated other people & were just friends. He asked me "why hasn't anyone snagged you?" I said "oh, I was married a long time ago. I guess I have really high standards". He said very innocently "Do I meet any of those standards?" Uh, well, yeah, as a matter of fact.... We held a big powwow for our wedding, none of that formal invitation stuff for us. Our good friend who's a preacher married us, part in English & part in Choctaw. I only understand a little Choctaw, and my husband none, but it was beautiful anyway. We only spent a little over $2000 for the whole thing in 95 - renting a National Guard Armory building, bought food for about 500-600 people (Indian stew, fry bread, etc), had a table full of decorated sheet cakes - no fancy stuff, and paid our head staff, cooks and security (off duty cop friends to direct traffic). We even held a "Tiny Tot" contest for the little kids - they all dance together and then "win" a $1 each. It was sooo cute! We dressed our whole family too, on less than one big fancy wedding dress costs people who do the fancy wedding thing. The newspaper knocked the Murrah Building bombing off of the top half of the front page for us. Everyone in Wichita knew someone affected - Wichita & Oklahoma are tied together by aircraft & oil. The paper wanted to print something to show that life would go on after 2 weeks of terrible news. We've been married 14 years strong, and I couldn't live without him, even though we've gone through some really hard times.
Just like you, Ruthie, I met my husband on a blind date. It was his company's Christmas party and he had no idea he was receiving a big company award that night! Wow, was I impressed! The rest is history....
Mike and I met at work. We really only knew of each other for a few years cause he was married. During his divorce some of my other girlfriends/coworkers knew what was going on with him and invited him to join us. For months we were just friends. It's kind of funny cause there were about 10 of us single gals and Mike. He was sort of like our big brother mascot. It took us both several months of talking and hanging out as just friends for us to figure out we might like to go out. (Actually it was me - I saw him as a coworker and a friend and it took me a while to figure out I 'like-liked' him.) Once we did though. that was it. We've been together as a couple since the spring of 1984, and every day is the best to just be hanging out with my best friend.
I met my husband on a blind date 26 years ago. After having 3 kids and working with my husband all these years....I still love being married...family!
Here is a song "by" me to all of you to keep you motivated in your marriage....do something healthy and try taking a walk to it!

I met my husband when I was at a party in Sedona, Arizona with people from work. As soon as I saw Brad we were immediately drawn to each other but I wouldn't go out with him for a few months because I was focusing on where I needed to be in my life first. As soon as I said yes to go out with him we were inseparable and married 4 months later! It will be 8 years this March and we now have a two beautiful children, a 5-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter and it's been one adventure after another. ;)
