In the outfield of Wrigley Field during a stadium tour. He asked the tour guide to take our picture and he asked me just as the guide took our picture. I have a picture of the exact moment.
On a rainy Sunday we went out for a walk through the park near our appartment.
We were standing on the little bridge looking at the tiny stream running under the bridge and he asked me if I would take him as his husband. It was awfully romantic.
The minute he asked me we started making plans for the wedding. And what a wedding it was.
My husband wins the cheesy olympics. He proposed at night, on the American side of Niagara Falls, during the light show. Even though he didn't have a ring, as it was right after the 2003 blackout, he still got on one knee and did it anyway. So cheesy, but I loved it.
Well, he went golfing that Sunday morning...and afternoon (twice). He came back to his apartment after going to the store. I heard him in the kitchen unpacking some groceries and putting stuff in the fridge. He came into the computer room, where I was typing up lesson plans. He looked so strange...a little shaky and white. He leaned over my shoulder and asked what I was doing, and if I didn't mind getting up to get him a drink from the fridge. "You were just in there, why didn't you get it?" I knew something was up, so I went to get him his drink. When I opened the fridge, there was the engagement ring in an open box with a note saying, "I was just hoping you might want to marry me." Now, that may not sound too romantic to many of you, but it was HUGE for him! I just think it's funny that he had to go golfing twice that day to TRY to settle his nerves!
Okay, here goes. We are big Scrabble players. We had been dating for 13 months and it was our second New Years Eve together. After getting all dressed up and eating at an expensive place he wanted to play Scrabble. Ummm, not what I had in mind but okay.
We were playing and he lays down "Marry Me" making an illegal move!
We have been married almost 5 years and have 2 daughters!
Michelle
I proposed to him.
I had bought the ring, and was going to give it to him for Christmas. I felt that that Christmas was an important one, and that it just felt right to get him a ring. I didn't plan on it being an engagement ring when I bought it though.
He eventually bought me one in return.
It wasn't super romantic or anything. More of a spur-of-the-moment thing while we were having a nice talk about the future of our relationship.
I really wish it was some huge, elaborate moment with him doing the proposing; but it is what it is. :-)
