I have a confession. We left for the beach on yesterday and I did not pack my gym shoes, yoga pants or ipod. I did pack my swim suit but it is clear to me that I did not plan to exercise on this trip.
Any advice on how to always incorporate the exercise routine into your family vacations?
Inquiring minds want to know.
I tend to focus on walking as my primary exercise on vacations. Sometimes it is automatically built in if we are hiking our doing a lot of sightseeing as pedestrians, but if it is not, I try to consistently take a one hour walk usually in the early afternoon. Sometimes I involve my family, but sometimes I use it as a just for me time which on busy family vacations can be restorative.
I agree that if you are on the beach take advantage of the fact you do not even need shoes. Walking or running in the sand burns more calories then on other surfaces and you get a free foot exfoliation while you are at it:). Yoga you can do anywhere and simply put down a towel. The hotel fitness centers are sometimes a great option which was mentioned below already. If there are activities offered where you are staying, sign up for them. Water sports, volleyball, hiking, etc. Not sure if I offered suggestions that were not already, but hope this helps some.
We are getting ready to go to Myrtle Beach in a few weeks. When making reservations one of the first things I inquire about is if their is a gym in the hotels. Most have them. My husband rides an exercise bike each morning.
If I am at a hotel and they have a workout room, I bring my stuff. Otherwise I just walk wherever I am. Sometimes that is the intention and never actually occurs, but I pretty much always bring my shoes and sports bras.
