Simple answer - I don't. Have the hectic schedules that is. I absolutely refuse to kill myself and drive my kids to ulcers trying to keep up with every team sport, music lesson, and playdate on earth. Nope. Not gonna happen. If life is too hectic to keep up with, then things need to be dropped pronto.
I couldn't agree with you more, Summer.....what are we teaching our children when we have them running around ragged at various events? How to be an adult running around ragged. Life is way too short. Pick and choose. If there is a birthday your child really wants to go to (say his best friend's), let him....if he doesn't want to go, graciously decline....same with sports, music, etc....pick one thing at a time that they can work on and excel....they don't have to do everything. This notion that we are making our kids well rounded is ridiculous....we are making them crazy. They will be well rounded enough if they come from a loving family that does things together.
