After a good pregnancy - giving birth did not go the way I planned. Waters broken, inducement, epidural, baby vacuumed out, 4th degree tear, and goodness knows what else. Labor lasted 36 hours in total. And I did yoga, exercised everyday, ate well. It's all a bit of a blur now.
Love to hear your birth story - please share.

Both labors from the point at which I knew I was in labor was 12 hours, each. Obviously I have longer birth stories, but that answers that question. Everything from epidurals gone bad, to midwives, I've got it.

I stayed in labor for only about 4 or 5 hours after that that was it. My kids didn't play around I had a quick labor with all of my kids. I had to have a epidural with my third child.

I have had 3 boys in the past 12 years but my 17 month old was a doozy. She was the hardest pregnancy but the shortest birth. My hubby & I went in for false labor at 10 pm then labored at home. I checked in the hospital at 2:30 am and she came rushing out before there was time for any meds and almost beat the doctor to his change of cloths. Still can't say if that was a good thing or not.

When I went into labor I was sick with the flu. I woke up at around 3am and had my bloody show. Went to the hospital at around 7am and was 4cm dilated. Had the 10lb baby! at 3:23pm. So almost 12 hours.

My epidural didn't work properly and it literally felt like I was being torn apart from the inside out.. I could feel him moving down and scraping across my hips sort of.. can't explain it but it was horrible! Some of the nurses refused to stay in the room to help because they felt I had a bad attitude lol... when they came back after it was all over they were like "ooh no wonder it was so hard". I could have slapped them.

I didn't allow anyone in the room (even my husband) except my sister.. and in the end she annoyed me a little.. I guess I'm one of those people that if they were dying they'd go off alone in the woods somewhere. I didn't want to push.. I just wanted to sleep. I went into some kind of shock I think and just like into my own little place in my head and wanted absolute silence. So most of the time was spent in the room alone (I made the nurses get everyone out).

I was so big ( I gained over 50 lbs) that I couldn't even change positions during the birth. I had not been able to walk properly for months beforehand because of severe back pain/leg pain and everything pain lol..

Once it was all over though I don't know what kind of tear I had because my stupid Dr. wasn't even present during my 6 week check-up. I just know that I had stitches inside and out and it took about 15 minutes for him to do it. I was stitched from top to bottom and with a hook off to the side on my butt. I didn't sit properly or walk well for over 3 months. It felt like I gave birth out of my butt..really..

That 10lb baby is now a 32lb/ 35.25 inches tall 18 month old. Btw, never had diabetes when I was pregnant, just had a giant - I'm only 5'5 but husband is Norwegian.

Glad to say though (and I know this may be almost unbelievable) I can't even tell that I ever had stitches..or even had a baby.. after 6 weeks I was still messed up and thought that I was damaged for life but after the 3 months or so everything went back into place and it was like it never happened. As far as I'm concerned giving birth is a freakin' miracle.

Wow, some real horror stories in here.

I didn't have labor. Due to my daughter's size, my age and the fact that I was so exhausted I was sleeping about 18 hrs a day... I had a scheduled C-section.

I was in labor 18 hours, pushed for 1.5 hours, had eclampcia, and had a code blue! That was my first child, second I had and emergency C-section the third child I elected to have a c-section and it worked out very well for me after the first two. Thirty six hours is over the top not to mention that nasty tear--I hope you are doing well and take care of your self.

Wretched! I put on 50lbs which was just over half my body weight. (I told the doctor he was about to see the biggest baby come from loins as she had to weigh 49 pounds of what I gained.) My kid was two weeks past the due date. I was induced and slow to dilate until I begged for an epidural at 4 cm. It was 12 hours of labor, three of which were set aside for pushing. My husband and sister couldn't hold up my gigantic legs and the nurses felt I didn't know how to push so they requested the epidural be turned down so I could feel more pain. Vomited on my husband moments before the doctor yanked my daughter out with the suction cup that sucked her brain into a nice, little nub on the top of her head.

I planned on having three kids, but after that decided one was enough. My mother was right - it's just like shooting a watermelon out your nose.

Oh, and I got a horrible bladder infection from it since the nurses forgot to put in a catheter.

22 excuriating hours of natural childbirth. Vomiting through pregnancy and while in delivery. Horrible back labour. My daughter managed to turn herself so that she was born facing to the right (most babies are born face down) which explained the pain in my back and tailbone and the bruising on her head.
