How to get my 4 year old to eat Veggies besides Mashed Potatoes?

  • Rating: No Rating
I'm a single mom and my daughter has always eaten veggies but for the past 2 years has refused to eat any except for mashed potatoes. Is there a way to get her to start eating them again? Thanks.

That's a question every parent asks one time or another. Just keep serving fresh veggies and let her see you eating them all the time. Try preparing them in different ways and don't offer mashed potatoes for a while. Hope this helps.

When my kids were little I kept fresh veggies cut up in the fridge so they could grab & snack anytime. I personally see no point in eating cooked veggies, all the nutrition is gone & I can not stand the feeling of them in my mouth.

One thing that you may try is making raw salad with all the 'fixings' on the side so she can add what she wants. Even set out things like pineapple, apple chunks, sunflower seeds...things that she may not get everyday and will look forward to 'salad night'. I also use cabbage and spinach (much healthier) not just lettuce.

We try to make veggies sound fun. When Justyn was little we told him broccoli were trees and peas were balls. I got pretty lucky with him. He prefers veggies over french fries. Jacob has proven to be another story. I'll let you know how I get him to eat veggies when he eats them, LOL.
