Every year if I don't get something I really wanted, I usually buy it for myself. I don't think there is anything wrong w/ buying yourself a gift. Will you do this too?

I see no problem with buying yoursefl what you really wanted and didn't get. Just make sure you can afford it first. The big problem we have in our family is that everyone tends to buy themselves what they want year round so when Christmas and Birthdays arrive you don't really have anything to get them. It can be frustrating when that happens. Yes, I have a family full of people that are hard to shop for.

I don't see anything wrong with getting yourself a gift. You deserve it :)
I will drop very direct hints to hubs - Price, model no and place where to purchase it all throughout the year in bid that he will buy it for me. If it doesn't work..then I will get it myself..

I have bought myself things before and shoved it in the stocking from Santa. This way my husband does not feel bad....and he can't say anything in front of the children. I always share that I must have been good during the year :)

This was the first Christmas where I didn't remind my husband, after 13 years, to buy things for my stocking. Normally, my stocking gets so full I need a back up stocking. So the night before Christmas, I stuffed everyone else's stocking and put out two empty stockings for me. Well, guess who woke up Christmas Day to two empty stockings?

I don't want anything; I just wanted the experience of opening my stocking gifts and enjoying that time with everyone on Christmas morning. Unfortunately, I can't buy that for myself.

Mommy self-care is crucial. If you have the funds and it's not a senseless purchase, (like a new motor cycle or camper!) why not go for it? It never get what I 'truly' would like. So I create a 'Mommy Wish List' each year. My hubby, kids and family members all know what is on it. So if they do get me a gift, it is something that I'd really use. Things on my Mommy Wish List may include:

Massage at a spa
soft slippers
chenille robe
Krispy Kreme donuts or Sees Candy
Night out w/daddy
Mani/Pedi and Lunch out with friend
Gift Certif to a nice restaurant

Not too bad eh? But I seriously see nothing wrong with buying yourself a gift - if your pocket book permits.

I agree. If you don't get something you really wanted and you can afford it treat yourself to it! Why not, you deserve it!

My husband is actually the one that started buying himself gifts that I never in a million years would think to get. Little things like a screw set at Lowe's or chocolates that he can add to his stocking. I decided to do it for the first time this year, I bought myself the Water Globes that you put in your indoor/outdoor plants. Funny thing is, my husband bought me the same thing.

Did anyone see The Simpsons? Homer ran all over town trying to buy a last minute gift for Marge - and failed. He sadly dragged himself home to his loving wife who was waiting for him with a wrapped gift. She said "my gift to you is your gift to me." The tag said "To Marge From Homer."

Homer: "It's just what I wanted!"

I got a magnetic ring. It looks cool and in theory is great, but I can't wear it if I plan to be by any credit cards or anything else that would get ruined by the magnetic powers.

Sure it's okay to buy yourself a gift, if you can afford the thing you want!

My honeyman has a hard time getting me stuff for Christmas because I usually will have bought anything I need for myself already. And I will usually buy myself a gift when I go Christmas shopping for everyone else. It's a little tradition I started many years ago and I've always kept it up.
