Making the best of Celiac Disease....looking for help living with it.

  • Rating: No Rating
I was diagnosed today with Celiac Disease and told to stop eating gluten, COLD TURKEY!! So...I'm sitting at my 'puter...eating my FIRST gluten free meal. It's pretty good, but expensive!

My question to all you women out there who have this disease (or a family member with it) is....HELP!! How do I do this?

Do you have recipes you would like to share?
Does your whole family change to gluten free?
Can you eat out?
What about comfort foods? I have a lot of those:)
How does this change your life?
What about CHOCOLATE? does that have gluten in it?

I have so many ?'s and I need some direction.

I would be happy to answer any questions you still have. Checkout my blog - Gluten Free Optimist

Here are some quick answers:
1. Gluten free Candy list - link is on my blog - there are tons you can have. I love Dove chocolate!
2. There is a restaurant widget (from Celiac Handbook) on my blog for finding restaurants.
3. Need to be very cautious about cross contamination, especially if you are the only one in the house eating gluten free.
4. Lots of great blogs with recipes and cookbooks. Checkout my blogroll and link to 101 gluten free bloggers.
5. There are great comfort foods. Have you tried Amy's mac and cheese?
