Need help with techie stuff

Okay -- I managed to paste the html code into my sidebar, but can't get the "badge" to show. If you GET this stuff, please check out my blog at www.newmomoldmom.wordpress.com and look at my sidebar/twittermom link and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I want the "badge" to show.

Thanks for tryign to help me. I did what you said. The "thing" in my sidebar says "View my page on twitter moms", and when you click on that line of text, it takes you to my page. So it works, but the badge doesn't show up. I REALLY want that badge. I don't know why, but I do! Do you know why the badge doesn't show up?

You are a real sport for trying to help me. I'll await your response with much gratitude. I just joined St. Louis Bloggers Guild and plan to attend one of their meetings next week in hopes that some more gifted techie members can coach me through the challenging stuff. I'm a writer by trade -- journalism degree, etc. In fact, I had to take ONE computer class (graduated from college in 1989) and all you had to do to complete the class was successfully write one loop code. And I cheated to do that. Now I'm paying the price. :) I REALLY admire all these moms who are self-taught in this code thing. Are you one of those?

I did paste in the entire big block of copy, and I saved it, and I went back in to look at it, and it's just a few small lines of code. So, I deleted that, and pasted the big block again, and saved it, then visited the site and saw it still didn't work, so I went back and opened it to edit it again and, again, the big block of code is gone and replaced with a small block of code. Maybe wordpress has some default that doesn't let you have a badge? Maybe the "pasting" doesn't work, and I actually have to type the dang code? I may try that next, but the potential for a typo is GREAT!

Incidentally, your URL to your LinkedIn profile is incorrect. The URL you have there is the one that works if you're logged in to LinkedIn - if you click on it, it goes to your profile, but if I click on it, it goes to mine!
You need to "View Your Profile" and find the URL labeled "Public Profile." Mine looks like this: http://www.linkedin.com/in/chastings so it should look something like that.

Anyway, when it comes to the TwitterMoms badge not appearing, I can see that the embed tag and the code for the badge just isn't there (like that stuff I pasted in above), but why it isn't there, is something I have no way of knowing. You pasted a huge block of code in, right? After saving it still just didn't appear? Or could it have been a problem where you didn't save the file correctly and re-publish it?

Remember, you need all that stuff like this (first and last angle brackets removed to make example):
