Need your help: What things do your neighbors do that really get on your last nerves

  • Rating: No Rating
I am planning to write a blog on the things that neighbors do that are NOT very neighborly (make neighbor upset) and doing an unscientific survey of the most popular ones (the DONT's).

This is for my newly launched website and community blog to help connect neighbors using practical ways, education and inspiration (http://www.toolzdo.com/community).

Here is what I have thus far from my own experience (if you have similar than what is already mentioned, mention them again as I am trying to come up with the top 5 or 10):
*Letting the dog unload right on my front lawn and not picking up after the dog
*Playing loud music after hours
*Littering specially on my property (mostly teenagers)

What about you? What are some of the things that your current neighbor or neighbor of old have done that really made your blood boil?

I heard of someone whose neighbour 'stole' their babysitter. Esentially, while the babysitter was caring for her children, the neighbour came over and asked if she was willing to sit for them too. After that, the sitter was busy whenever she needed her, caring for the neighbour's children.

This may be unusual, but I once had a neighbor who used to move my plants off our shared balcony, and closer to my door. She felt I was "stealing" too much of the sun. Luckily I moved before things got too crazy - but I'll never forget that!

Okay I stated they ask me to watch kids at last minute. How about the following morning when you've woke at 5 am to get all your kids ready to watch said kid, you find out she decided even later that night to ask another neighbor. Oh and she didn't bother to tell you. ERRRR.

My neighbors complain when my kids are in our own yard - with their friends playing. They say they are making to much noise. Give me a break. Its the summertime and it is the middle of the day. Kids are suppose to have fun, but no, not with them, they complain constantly about the noise and ruckus going on. Heaven forbid kids have fun playing tag, hop scotch, basketball or running in the sprinkler. They use to sit out in their yard and yell about the noise - now they stay in their house and keep their shades pulled. I can't understand how someone would want to be so miserable. Life is just to short!

We have the same problem in our street. I've call the city and ask to work on a solution, like speed bumps but nothing came out of it. So the kids don't get the great joy and freedom of playing in the street I experienced in my childhood. That is the biggest regret about buying on that street.

My immediate neighbors are wonderful! I do get upset when people speed through our development though. I'm not sure if they are even neighbors or friends of neighbors. A little speeding happens...even though it is still not safe. But going over what seems to be 45mph completely bugs me. It's not safe for the kids especially. My kids don't play in the street & I constantly drill into them that if your bike, ball, toy etc. were to roll in the street then just let it go. Mommy will get it. Toys can be replaced...not kids.

Thank goodness it doesn't happen often.

Wow! Their is a lot of stuff that people do that are not very neighborly and probably don't realize it. Or they do and just don't care about how they'll impact the other persons' life.

Sounds like my sister...a far distance neighbor that always calls at the last minute. Love her but...

How sad to not cherish the joyful laugh of children when so many are suffering around the world due to abuse, neglect and abandonment and have forgotten how to laugh. Are they 55 and older? If so, they should consider a 55 and older community.

Unforgettable indeed! I couldn't stop laughing at this one. How funny to think you can make a natural resource like the sun "yours".

You should leave her a friendly note!

I have a meddling neighbor who looks through the trash the night before garbage pickup day to see what everyone is buying. I caught her recently and she ran back into her house; in a robe and with scarf her head. Ha! Get a life.
