One Nice Thing Your Child Has Done in the Past Week

  • Rating: 0 after 1 vote
Hi! Over the years my daughter and I have butted heads on many issues, but was thrilled this past weekend when she was home from college for a few days. Out of the blue, she inquired if it would be okay to wash the dog. Oh, I loved this! Of course my response was "Sure!" I am still on cloud 9! ; )

My big one (5 next week) helped his little brother (3,5) getting dressed. This was soooo adorable !!

When we told the kids they'd be missing their classroom Christmas parties because of our extended trip over the holidays, my 5-year-old teared up and said, "But then Jayson (whose name he'd drawn for the classroom exchange) won't get a present!" He wasn't worried about his own gift. I was so proud of him.

My 14 yr old son remembered to take the garbage can out to the road on garbage day! Without me asking at all!! Sometimes I get excited over the little things. :)

My 14 year old was in his room throwing clothes all over, I asked what he was doing he said nothing, I said you have to pick this up he said he will, Then I heard noises in the little twos room I went to see and their clothes were being tossed, Same conversation, Then he asked what of my clothes don't fit as long as they are long sleeved and/or pants. I then asked again and got no response, just that leave me alone look. The washer started Me totally wondering what he was up to walked back up stairs to see what he was doing he was washing all the clothes. Ok fine. Then he started asking about blankets, 'Do we need this one' 'this one is old can I have it' type of questions. I let him have 3 or 4. About two hours later (once the dryer was done) He asked for my keys I handed them to him he loaded two bags of clothes and these blankets. I asked what he was doing and got You will see I need you to take me someplace in a few. Then he started making sandwiches and bagging them So I started catching on He asked if he could have a pack of juice packs and a pack of cookies. I said ok. We got in the car I asked him where and he told me where to go and explained that he seen this homeless family on the bus on the way home with a kids about the size of mine and he felt like he wanted to help them since it was getting cold outside and they had nothing. So we went to this family he got out I tried to help he asked me not to and he gave the family the stuff and chatted for a while and got in the car and off we went. He did all of this with no help aside the driving and just because he said it was the right thing to do. I don't think I have ever been so proud of him.

Drove 70 miles late at night in the snow to bring me a can of kerosene for my heater.

Our son, 6, wrote his own Christmas list and began shopping for everyone this past weekend. What I love to see is the thought he puts into choosing something he knows the person will love, use and appreciate.

My son is Mr. Independent...he can do it all by himself. He's 2 and he's just growing up so fast *sniff* It was a nice surprise this morning. I was helping him get dressed for school and he came up to me and asked me to rock him like a baby. I thought that was so sweet. I was a little late to work this morning, but it was totally worth it.

My daughter is only 7 months old but I had a little scare today and was crying. She crawled over to me, got in my lap and put her head of my shoulder. This was the first time she's ever done anything like that. It made me feel better immediately!

My preschooler proclaimed, "This is my best day ever!" while we were decorating the tree. It made my heart smile to know he was really enjoying such a simple family event. I don't know if it is "nice" but I thought it was awfully sweet!

Although my lil girl is only a year old... she shares and kisses spontaneously. She shares her cookies with us and showers the dog in kisses.
