I'm reading Netherland by Joseph O'Neill about a guy in New York going through a divorce. It's absorbing, beautiful writing, and in some ways very "male." Worth reading if you love good writing about life in New York and life in general. About to finish it. Would love something to rock my world.

Have you read THE MISTS OF AVALON by Marion Zimmerman? Or WRESTLING WITH OUR INNER ANGELS by Nancy Kehoe?

I love these books, too! Sometimes I pick up my dog-eared copy of "A Women of Substance" and relive the drama.

My favorite "stumble" onto an amazing author who wrote a series of books that I found enlightening and inspiring is, Barbara Taylor Bradford. The collection is called the Harte Family Saga. My favorite book being "Woman of Substance" This novel just moved me and sort of changed my perception of the world. I have since read all of Barbara's novels, loved the saga best. Written in 1979, it is a bit dated but I just loved it!

Jackie Collins has a "hot" series with a woman called Lucky, not really a book of substance but entertaining and an easy read.
I am currently not reading anything new and look forward to being inspired as well, going thru my own divorce so I will hold off on Netherland for a while. I need a Break in my day!!!
I just love all the suggestions.

The last book that really took me for a ride was "The Lost Hours" by Karen White. The heroine is very tough in the beginning - you kind of want to shake her - but the journey she takes you on is worth the wait!

I just ordered a box of books from Barnes & Noble. I can't wait to read Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay, The Day the Falls Stood Still by Cathy Marie Buchanan and The Color of Light by Karen White.

What pulls me into a book is a fascinating character and an author who knows how to make her suffer!
