We have a fake tree, but a real tree is nice and pretty if you can keep up with the maintenance.

We use fake because some of our family members are allergic to real ones.

I miss the smell of real ones....

Definitely a real one for us too! We go and pick it out as a family, we are going this weekend as well. Can't wait to decorate it!

Real. It's better for the environment and just smells so darned good....that's not to say if they made a fakey easily recyclable, I wouldn't go for that!

Ditto this!
It doesn't "feel" like Christmas, since I can't go tromp around looking for a tree.

We do a fake tree...check that, we do 6 fake trees. Two outside my front door with white lights, One in my entry way (my fav) with cream and gold decorations and white lights, my kids each have one in their rooms (daughters has lavendar, pink and blue decos and lights and my sons is blue and green) and then the family room tree with colored lights and our family ornaments (one ornament from every year my hubby and I have been together -1993- and one for each year of each kid's life) with a little bit of fake candy garland and a candy tree skirt. We have horrible allergies and real trees cost too much. Oh, my hubby hates the way the real ones clog up the air purifiers and require much more cleaning and maintaince.

Ooohh, real trees are my favorite. We had one every year until we moved into this house, and now we have a woodburning stove in the family room that just keeps it too dry. It makes me scared about the tree and house going up in flames, so now we have an artificial one. I still miss the smell of the real tree, and the experience of going to the tree farm and picking out the perfect tree with our kids.
Funny story--When Brian and I were first married and celebrating Christmas, we bought a real tree that was still all bundled up. It was tall and I said I wanted a big tree. I couldn't believe how big it was when we untied it, and it continued to spread out overnight. When we got up the next morning, it had grown over the recliner, and we had to move furniture to accomodate the tree!

We have a fake tree since we live in a tropical island and a real one wouldn't survive xmas season. BUT we put some pinecones around the house and it does smell like xmas!!!

Artificial tree for us for the past 5 years. We also LOVE the smell of a real tree (Noble Fir is our favorite). We opted for an artificial tree since our new home has a woodburning fireplace. We're just cautious. The new tree is GORGEOUS and taller than any real tree we could ever find.

I really envy you living on a tropical island when I look at the rain outside and the 2 degr. C (cry cry cry)
